Probably the same for me too, loved watching us that season, great team playing great football in my favorite home kit
Beating Spurs after Hoddle and Dean Richards had gone there at St Marys was very satisfying too
Special mention too for a home win against Chelsea in the early 90's, Paul Allen and Frankie Bennett scored and it was highly amusing seeing some old Chelsea supporting lump repeatedly punching a bus stop in frustration on Archers Road after the game

Not a big fan of Boxing Day games.
No trains and the atmosphere is usually rubbish due to hangovers etc.
Would have preferred to play on Saturday as the Prem are doing.
You do have a point regarding transport etc and in the modern day I think you are right it has been a bit watered down.
But up to the 70's /80's the Boxing Day game was always a highlight of the year, usually one of the biggest crowds of the season and people who barely went to games for one reason or another would go.
To a degree I think that happened up to fairly recently, in 2009/10 the last home game before Xmas V Tranmere attracted 19,800, in season when the average was about 21,000, the Boxing Day game against Exeter City 30,890, bigger than our attendances these days.

An amazing goal by Cuco Martina gave us the lead, with further goals by Shane Long 2 and Jose Fonte giving us a 4-0 win, among the best performances by Saints under Keoman.
A group of us, who'd travelled up by coach, went in the North Bank (and sang) because it was too cold to stand in a blizzard on the frozen terracing of the Clock End. It was the most one-sided scoreless draw I've ever witnessed, but somehow we managed to stop that great double-winning Arsenal team scoring.
HOME: 1964 Saints v Plymouth 5-0
It was my first ever Boxing Day game and a memorable one as Saints put on a scintillating display, in front of my visiting relatives, with a goal from the young Martin Chivers and a hat-trick from George O'Brien.

Questionable disallowed goal there, with better than Yashin Eric Martin between the sticks.

I'm doing well thank you Still try and meet up with our little crew when down for a match, having said that the last time I saw them all was at Wembley for the play off final My old man is doing well, slowly recovering from a knee opp and the Preston game was his first in a while
Hope all is well with you and yours
