Why couldn't they have done this in 1976!

Its so far been a poor season for the scousers.

Think they have been affected by the tragic loss of Jota and obviously a lot of the players he was simply one of their mates.

But then Wolves have been doing a great imitation of Sheff Wednesday!!

Regards the 76 loss to Liverpool, time to let it go know, I feel !!!

Same as me. Was eight as well. Cried at the result after listening on radio too.

Third season following Rangers.

My dad said there will always be next season. Liar !!!

Little did I know that was the pinnacle....

Blimey, now we are regurgitating a myriad of memories. Not all sad ones, but they do all end with a bitter taste!

How that team (and the Gerry Francis 1 team for that matter) never won anything is ridiculous, heartbreaking, unjust, criminal, whatever you want to call it.

Hey-ho....

Me too. I remember in particular, tuning in at half-time (we had nowhere near as much coverage of matches in those days) to hear 'Wolverhampton Wanderers 1 Liverpool 0'. Elated at that point, I thought 'So, this is what it feels like when you win the First Division'.

Support for QPR is character-building.

Haha! That was my first thought when I saw the score. I can still see my old man coming over with a 5p piece after I’d switched the radio off when the 3rd went in to get some crisps from the Off-License - no megamultipacks in those days, Sunshine!

Many years later, I got talking to a Wolves fan in a Sydney pub and when I said I was a Rangers fan, it was the first thing he mentioned, because he was there that night.

Basically said that it was like a war zone before, during and after the game and you’d have thought Liverpool had lost, the way they smashed up everything in sight afterwards.

50 years ago, eh?

I need a SAGA. What’s the SAGA? It’s ….. Queen’s Park Rangers.

I'm in Spain ATM and the apartment has a box thing, so after coming back from dinner, we watched the last twenty five minutes. It was scrappy but entertaining as it went from end to end.
Just before the end, I said to Mrs FB those very same words as in the O P.
Expect Liverpool to win on Friday, when they repeat last night but in the cup.

Yes, I thought that too. It would have kept them up as well that season.

I hated Wolves for years after that loss and still can't forgive them for it.

It wasn’t until a few years ago that I happened across what must be the most disturbing image I’ve ever seen on the internet - the cover of the Wolves v Liverpool programme 1976 - that game. They went for a sort of faux Wild West theme. I instantaneously puke-vomited.

When we got to Wolverhampton, we didn't see a gold and black scarf until we were virtually at the ground. I'd spotted a few R's at Euston wearing Rangers paraphernalia, I'd glad I did not because it would have been 'iffy' at best, though wearing no colours was a virtual give away as everyone else was bedecked in red. I 'm told there was a lot of trouble in the town centre before kickoff, can't confirm because we weren't hanging around, but there were running battles in all the usual spots on the way back.
