That final was everything I detest about modern football. Cynical and dull. It seems these days it doesn't matter how you play, only that you win. They seem to disregard the fact its supposed to be entertaining.
I don't think there was a standout team. Spain were decent but not a patch on previous Spanish sides. Defensively sound but not much up front. For some reason France shot themselves in the foot and they threw it away.
Argentina were a complete disgrace. Played anti football and showed a complete lack of class. Im not surprised. Martinez got his keeper trophy at the last WC and pretended to shag it on stage, and he hasn't got any better. Enzo was a disgrace with his constant fouls and the whole team turned their back on Spain getting the trophy.
I don't think that game won over any new american fans for 'soccer'.
Today social media is full of Argentinians that seem to think it was them that was hard done by. Its depressing.
