Showing my ignorance here Matt, but does he have a good record as a midfielder?
I know these compilation videos aren't always a good indication but he looks pacey and sticks his foot in. Hes a central defensive midfielder which is what we're crying out for and he plays for Benfica so I'd say worth a punt.
Trouble is he signed a 5 year contract last season so we'll have to pay top dollar, which I can't see Gao doing. We'll probably offer some insulting bid, p1ss Benfica off and see ourselves outbid by Fulham.
Apparently we are now in the driving seat to sign Jovane Cabral for around 20 million. Sounds like BS to me. He's a winger. Surely we aren't prioritising a winger over a DM or another CB....

He said from the start that we would have to be self sustaining, so no surprise that he isn’t putting his hand in his pocket. It makes you wonder why he bothered buying us in the first place, unless it was just a way of getting money out of China.
