Minamino Transfer Latest 10:36 - Jun 13 with 1171 viewsSaintNick

Last week most decided that signing Takumi Minamino would be a backward step and show how little ambition we had etc etc .

Today it seems Wolves are in pole position, given they finished 10th and were in a stones throw of 7th if they sign him will that mean we have no ambition because we can't even match Wolves in signing Minamino who is now of course very desirable because a bigger club wants him

Im confused

We simply cannot be expected to compete with the holders of the 10th Place Trophy.

I’d rather the £17m plus whatever we can get for Bednarek put towards a decent Centre Back.

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.

No the signing of Stephens, Macarthy, Long etc shows lack of ambition as they simply are not premier league standard and no other premier league club would want them so why should we ? . I wouldn’t mind Minamino as a squad player, he would need to prove himself though.

Yes, considering how we try to create chances for ourselves and how we concede goals both from high crosses and corners, the priority has to be get central defenders and strikers who can head the ball. I can't recall Minamino being any less aerially challenged than the rest of our squad.

Dael Fry would be a good start.

far too lightweight, not strong enough tracking back and lastly not what we need which once again are centre backs and a keeper and a striker

Don't be confused Nick. It's quite simple. We can't even compete with mid-table clubs for average players.

I thought Minamino was going to be great for us. He clearly has something as he looked a reasonable finisher. But the longer he stayed the more anonymous he became.
I've no idea why. Considering Ralph left him out I'm not sure why he would want to come back or why Ralph would want him.

Its all about building a squad rather than just the basic 11 plus 6 other who could challenge.

Neither of these 3 will be regular starters, but they are a cheap way of adding bulk to the squad without having to spend out transfer fees, none of them will be on big wages.

It should also be noted that Mccarthy & Stephens signed the contracts back in the Autumn before the new owners appeared on the scene, back then we were having to run on a tight budget.

Perhaps if they hadn't signed those deals then they would have been released, but don't blame the new owners for something before their time
