| Ticket Prices For The Friendlies 12:02 - Jul 26 with 1596 views | SaintNick | Can't help thinking that the club missed a chance here. £10 for season ticket holders for the first day of sale, then £15 all round rising to £20 on the day is not going to induce a late walk up on the day. If they had £5 for season tickets holders then a flat price of £10 for adults and £5 for kids they might have got a big crowd, cant see more than about 6,000 for both | |

Teams have to play pre season games, but as you say they are not competitive games these days but training games and therefore of little note in terms of results etc. It costs clubs to put them on so a token charge would cover this, better to have 10,000 in at £5 than 5,000 at £10

Exactly that. They are just training sessions so the fans should be let in for free.

I certainly saw Sociedad as they had a guy with peroxide hair who was the best player on the pitch by miles. Turned out to be a young Antoinne Griezman. .

Friendlies should be £5 for adults £1 for kids as a flat rate, on the day of the game too. But that's the issue isn't it. PL clubs don't think of the fans at all.

What's 50k going to do to help a PL club improve though? I mean we don't even bother with the £3m+ sleeve sponsor anymore so 50k won't matter will it?

I like the pre-season friendlies against foreign opposition as they are an opportunity to see teams and players we wouldn't normally see. I was at the opening game at St Mary's in August 2001, which was against Espanyol, and when we played Espanyol again in August 2015. I was also there when we played Real Sociedad in August 2013, and, like you, was impressed by Griezmann, who came on as a second half sub and played on the left wing. His peroxide hair certainly caught the eye that day and reminded me of former Leeds player, Alan Smith. I've got my tickets for both the Monaco and Villarreal games but I agree with Nick that the Club has got the pricing wrong this year and that the high prices are going to keep the attendances down. If they'd charged less, the extra tickets sold would have more than covered the difference. [Post edited 27 Jul 2022 14:54]

| Ticket Prices For The Friendlies on 16:12 - Jul 27 with 1009 views | Poirot | Clearly there is someone in the ticket office management who wants to make himself look good in meetings to the detriment of fans. The pricing policy has got terrible over recent seasons and it probably started with the premium seat con. The entire revenue from ticket sales is peanuts in the grand scheme of things these days. Its probably no more than om just TWO home games. One thing that hasnt happened thus far with new owners is any change in commercial sponsorship. In fact weve actually lost a main sponsor that serviced the womens team and paid several million to be sleeve sponsors. | | | |

For those prices it makes total sense to sit in O'Neills or Scholars and drink the ticket money equivalent. A much nicer time and has the benefit of keeping the staff employed. Wetherspoons these days is so poor and dirty a trip to a friendly match is the better option.
