Who Went To The Game 09:32 - Jul 31 with 1280 viewsSaintNick

Have to say I went in the Itchen corner and I felt it was a little bit over the top in stewarding, ticket check to go up the stairs and a private security firm handling some of the stewarding and stood around trying to look threatening.

There were a few ejections, but in block 1 quite a few stood up for most of the game without problem, although in the Northam stand the stewards seem to target about a dozen kids stood at the back.

It's annoying that they close the Kingsland for these pre-season friendlies, which are at the height of summer when the hot sun is shining directly into your face in the Itchen. Two fathers near me took their children out to find shade as they were suffering. I'm sure there must have been a few cases of sunstroke.

The 11,000+ crowd wasn't too bad and created a bit of atmosphere but probably would have been around 17,000 with cheaper ticket prices.

It's funny but at the England men's games the stewarding is the opposite to that at St Mary's. They only target the away fans and that often results in scuffles. Meanwhile the home fans can do what they like.

I doubt there has ever been any trouble at a women's game. The crowds at them are mostly family groups.

Didn't go yesterday, but yeah they target the young lads. Bet they arn't so quick to target the older guys from Saints but also from Chelsea and 3000 Mancs in a few weeks time. The security at St Mary's is misguided and well over the top. Violence and illegal abuse is the line. Otherwise let people let off steam, have a shout, jump about and enjoy the match. People who want to sit there in silence, can sit in the Chapel can't they.

Funnily enough, that's pretty much the exact amount you'd have to pay me to go...!

Poll: Which manager would you prefer Saints to have?
