I don’t rate McCarthy particularly, though he was very good in the Mark Hughes season.
I just worry that it’s another experienced head out of the door, and it leaves us exposed with Caballero as the sub keeper, and we have seen enough from him to know that the moment the oppo put crosses into the box, we’re in trouble. |  |

Would he get a signing on fee for signing a contract extension? His wages are only an issue while he is at the club. He was either going to be no 2 in which case it made sense and if the club decide to move him on we now get a fee instead of him walking for nothing. Seems pretty sensible to me. |  | | |
