5 Things About Yesterday 21:35 - Jan 14 with 1706 viewsSaintNick

1, We are now officially the best team in the Championship, more points than Leicester in the last 19 games.

2. Adam Armstrong had his best game for the club and should have got man of the match he truly makes us tick.

3. How was this crowd 400 less than Plymouth, there were less empty seats from where I was sat

4. The aisle I sit on seems to be the busiest during the game then anywhere else in the stadium, a bout 100 people must have come back to their seats after the second half kicked off

5. Russell Martin has earned the respect of Saints supporters now, hopefully a few of the players under fire such as Mara & Manning might also do so

Manning played well yesterday.

Again, Mara came on with the game won.

We are going to have tough games coming up, not least West Brom, Leicester and Ipswich all away, and of course Leeds away on the last day, where realistically we are not going to be 3-0 up with 10 minutes left.

We will need an attacking player who can make the difference and change a 0-0 to a 1-0 victory to us.

Mara has done next to nothing in 18 months to show that he is that player.

Sorry Nick. Have to disagree.

Poll: Would you take going down to League 1 if it meant new owners coming in?

1. I’m actually enjoying football again, this side are finally starting to show how they can perform and it’s great to watch.
2. Ryan Fraser looks quality and has been an inspired signing.
3. KWP is too good for this league and we’ll be lucky to keep him.
4. I was really disappointed by the lack of acknowledgement of Mel Blyth, maybe our support is too young but he’s one of 11 players who did something no one else has ever done, he should’ve had his name ringing round the ground (when we tried it was drowned out by songs about pompey)
5. Hip flasks are dangerous when everyone has one

1. To me personally watching our play felt the best since Koeman departed - albeit, it is at a lower league level. At times it was sublime;
2. KWP, Adam Armstrong and Fraser are really making the team tick. Bednarek - not my favourite player for a while due to his attitude and antics but he seems a changed man and player this season;
3. One negative - incredibly wasteful at corners. I am not sure what the count was on corners but there was alot of them and not one created a goal scoring opportunity or save. Sheff Wed defenders just ate and drank them;
4. Our fans. I hate to knock our fans but 5 minutes before half time I had my view disrupted by the sheer number leaving and then as early as the 81st minute our fans were leaving in droves (again constantly view and enjoyment spoiled) when we are winning comfortably and matching a record and I would have thought that for this game at least they would have stayed and applauded the performance, effort and success - why did so many leave so early?
5. Can we stop the near kamikaze over playing in our own box when clearly it needs to just be cleared. It nearly cost us in the first 5 mins and there was another incident later on.

Is there any point to the clapping players at the end after a win thing? The players are obliged to troop around the pitch clapping the fans when they blatantly would rather just be allowed to get straight back to the changing rooms and the stadium is clogged up with people who block the aisles and refuse to move until the players have trudged by them so they can clap them.

Ironically the long delays at the end of matches which cause many to leave early has a lot to do with the clapping of the players thing.

Seems a bit antiquated now that, even players at this level are on 50k per week, and would, to a man, all leave us as soon as an offer was made from a club higher up the food chain.

have to agree

I leave a few minutes early to get the bus up the Avenue before the gridlock caused by the cycle lanes kicks in. Turns a 20 bus journey into 90 minutes

So Long and Thanks for all the Fish
