The players have defaulted back to type . That was a very poor first half. We have lost the ability to play through the press. I’ve not noticed jander or downs. Hopefully fellows on for the 2nd half

| Saints v Coventry on 16:13 - Dec 20 with 1263 views | kernow | Not clinical enough . Two one on ones in the first half not converted. Defence fast asleep again for their goal. Disappointment but we were shut out second half after the goal, lots of cheating and time wasting going on. The ref gave us nowt. No-one played badly but nobody took the chance to shine against league leaders Frank Lampard’s Coventry. What was he doing at the end? What a vag ! Two points dropped. | | | |

Scienza and Manning were delivering crosses and unless a 6ft centre half is there they are just wasted No reflection on Armstrong.but hes not going to win many in the air.
| Saints v Coventry on 17:23 - Dec 20 with 1097 views | Bridders2 | Coventry are top for a reason, they parked the bus and defended well, stopping all our attempts. Their keeper was big and powerful in his box and dealt with most of our corners, a total contrast to Banuzu. We seemed to lack that bit of creativity in front of their goal, but you've got to give it to them they defended well. Couldn't believe we started so slowly with the russball. | | | |

Easy, Tiger. Coventry are top of the league...the best team in the league by far...nailed on for automatic promotion. OK they played with 10 men for 40 minutes but we all knew they would play in the trenches and use shithousery in spades..(we would have !! ) I am not sure making wholesale reactive changes to the sending off would have been the best idea. Keep a shape and play through them as planned...there's only 10 of them. Don't forget they are one up...last thing you need is a breakaway second goal cos we ain't scoring three, even against 9 men!!. The plan would be to then equalise early (tick) and wear them down and look for a later winner vs a knackered bunch (ok that didn't happen) One of the more famous 10 man games I recall was Monaco vs Chelsea in the CL Semi first leg in 2004. Monaco had a bloke sent off at 1-1 and Ranieri took 2 defenders off to go for glory. Fook me if Monaco didn't score 2 more. A stress free win at Oxford would pep us up a bit.
| Saints v Coventry on 18:36 - Dec 20 with 918 views | City_boy | As the saying goes, a game of 2 halves. Coventry played with their usual high line, with at least 3, which caused us to start playing 'Rusty' ball across the back. We did have some good chances in first half (probably better than Coventry ?). Their keeper had and excellent game, which on another day could have been different. It's hard to accept, that we still cant defend aerial balls into the box. The 2nd half was a lot better and we created a lot and penned them in their own half. When Wellington first arrived, I was optimistic, but he just seems to get worse and got caught napping twice. Coventry were well organised and played well. However, this was 2 points dropped, especially after they went to 10. What happened at the end when it all kicked off. I was just on way down steps, and then saw Lampard getting involved ? I also noticed they did the old Saints stunt of going down and then rushing to the bench for instructions. Their keeper went down for ages and it was always players going down on the opposite side to dug out ! Finally, only 2 subs today, which we rarely see. [Post edited 20 Dec 18:47]

| Saints v Coventry on 19:11 - Dec 20 with 836 views | dirk_doone | Coventry are a very well organised team of decent Championship journeymen, with some big strong players who can outjump and outmuscle the opposition. The Championship is weaker than usual this year because the worst group of teams ever to be relegated from the Premier League joined it. There is no real Premier League quality in the Coventry squad. Over the last 2 years they just seem to have assembled a very strong Championship team of relative unknowns. They obviously have good scouts. Their best player today and their goalscorer, Ephron Mason-Clark had an unremarkable career at Barnet, Metropolitan Police and Peterborough. Haji Wright, the only Coventry player most people have heard of, came from a small Turkish league club. Their goalkeeper, Rushworth, is on loan from Brighton, where he was third choice, and so on. Lampard has got them playing the best football of their careers, but there's no way they'll be good enough for the top flight next season. It reminds me of what Kompany did with a limited group of players at Burnley. Even now, Wolves would probably beat them. We have some quality players, but are weak in the key positions - the spine of the team. In a league where crosses dominate, you can't come out on top without big, strong strikers and central defenders. That's why they're top of the league and we're not. We needed someone like Wood today to be up front for the whole match. Instead we had to resort to bringing on Cameron Archer, who was totally ineffective. [Post edited 20 Dec 19:30]

We should have gone 442 with that man advantage Why was THB playing so far forward I realise Tonda is learning but that showed inexperience
| Saints v Coventry on 19:28 - Dec 20 with 765 views | City_boy | Just read the fall out and seen video from Lampard's red mist at the end of the game. Apparently it was because of the chanting from the Northam that he was just a "sh*t Steven Gerrard !". He needs to grow up. That was pathetic. He will get charged for that. Must admit, it was the fastest I saw Wellington move all afternoon as the melee kicked off ! [Post edited 20 Dec 19:43]
