| Brereton Diaz scores again for Derby. 20:44 - Jan 30 with 978 views | GRIM | Brereton Diaz has just scored again for Derby. He's doing really well there & in this match he's been given the incredible rating of 9.6 for his first half performance. He couldn't cut it in the Premier lge but he is proven again that he's more than a capable Championship player. | | | | |
| Brereton Diaz scores again for Derby. on 21:01 - Jan 30 with 915 views | dirk_doone | Another assist too. "Striker Ben Brereton Diaz says he has rediscovered his joy for football during his loan spell at Derby County." He never looked happy here and towards the end, you could see he just wanted to get away. He looks like a different player at Derby, fitter, more motivated and, of course making and scoring more goals. He's only 26, reaching the peak of his career. We should get a good transfer fee for him, which is the main priority of the club, after all. You sense the same will happen with Harwood-Bellis when he manages to escape to another club. He's going to enjoy his football more and get back into the England team. [Post edited 30 Jan 21:06]

Although our recruitment is poor, it's also that anyone.we buy seemingly just isn't very happy at Saints and they get worse. We don't get the best out of players either .BBD looks like a real handful but he was useless at Saints. [Post edited 30 Jan 21:05]

The one bright spot is Scienza, who appears to be happy here and playing the best football of his life.

Onuachu has scored 12 in 16 games. Note their playing positions and what we need. Our biggest problem lies off the pitch more than on it.

Likewise Matty Fernandes, who was also good. Out of about 12 signings, one perhaps is good.

Correct. I think part of the problem is that the players know they are just on a conveyer belt. There is no affinity with the club, as they know will be sold. [Post edited 30 Jan 21:19]

Preaching to the converted I appreciate Southamptonfan but it’s not strange. We both know the answer but for those who still doubt :- We were an established team in The Premier League and had been for a good number of seasons before Sports Republic arrived. Since then, two relegations in three seasons, seven managers in two years and currently 15th in The Championship. Incidentally, with Derby winning this evening, should we lose at Stoke tomorrow we will be a minimum of eight points adrift of the sixth placed team. Probably more depending on other team’s results. And to think that before a ball was kicked we were 5/2 second favourites to win the league this season.

thats exactly the reason some of them use us as a stepping stone to where they want to be so it works both ways, unfortunately some just cant cut it in the physical english game

It’s exactly this I’ve been saying it forever, how can a player feel anything for the club if they know we’re looking to sell them on as soon as there’s a profit to be made? This is the biggest reason Sport Republics awful ownership will never work. Please sell up, even if it means selling all our players and selling club on the cheap

It’s just that the £’s involved are rather larger. Doesn’t seem to stop their players giving it their all. I believe it stems from the manager and how good a man-manager he is. Im sorry but this is absolute rubbish, this is 2026 not 1976, players sign for clubs for the money, end of ! When a club comes in with a better offer then they want to go, why are Joe Aribo & Sam Edozie at the club and twiddling their thumbs, perhaps in some misguided affinity for the club in which they believe the next manager through the door will pick them and make them club captains ? No it is purely money based, we are paying them more than they can get elsewhere and until they get to the last year of their contract and then might accept less money for the security of a long term deal, they sit tight. Every player knows that they are a commodity, that they are on a conveyor belt, in fact that is what in the past has attracted them to Saints, the chance to develop and move to a bigger club when the chance arrives, no one signs for a football club (Unless it is a massive one) hoping to still be there in 5 year, they want to keep on moving up the conveyor belt. The problem we have is no one wants to leave permanently because they are on too much money and that is Solak's fault, Sport Republik are bankrolling the club with too much money. I find it rather ironic that Ben Brereton Diaz is now put up as some sort of example of how bad Sport republic are, he was never given a chance by the fans from the off, this board was full of those saying that he was a terrible player and using him as an example of Sport Republic's flawed recruitment process. Turns out he isn't bad player after all, he is a good player and so it isn't our recruitment that was flawed, so what was it, Could it have been Russell Martin who played him out of position ? No of course not it was Dragan Solak who personally oversees all tactics and team selections, when he is not in the ticket office insisting that prices for cup games should be £20 and not £10 or he is in meeting with the catering department ensuring that prices are to the maximum. I am not sure how Solak actually has time for anything else given the number of decisions he has to make at St Mary's

| Brereton Diaz scores again for Derby. on 09:19 - Jan 31 with 419 views | SaintNick | I would also point out before BBD is elevated to the rank of demi god, that this is his 3rd League goal in 25 Championship games, 24 of which were starts. So in our squad we have Adam Armstrong, Finn Azaz, Leo Scienza, Ryan Manning & Taylor Harwood-Bellis who have all scored more in the League and Ross Stewart who is level on 3. If Cameron Archer or Jay Robinson score today, they would be level with BBD. Most have racked up their goals with less minutes on the pitch than BBD | |

Players used to come here and improve, not now What has happened to our much vaunted youth academy? Don't see many young players being produced, may have been difficult in the Premiership but don't understand why now in the Championship.

But you still haven't explained why we have had two relegations in three years, 8 failed managers, languishing in the bottom half of the championship. If what I say is "rubbish", what is the reason for such a huge demise? All the people below Solak you will say, so who keeps appointing them? At least give reasons for the failures since Solak came in after Saints had just thrashed Brentford 4 1 at St Mary's in the PL. Why you don't want better for this club, I do not understand. You don't get anywhere risk free. [Post edited 31 Jan 12:25]
