When he got the first card, I always felt he was a risk. Even Flyn Downs didn't get booked, I would have had him odds on for a card today ! Portsmouth were poor and will be relegated. Peretz didn't have a big save to make. The Saints subs were spot on. [Post edited 11 Oct 14:27]

Wherever he receives the ball, Bragg immediately turns round to face his own goal. The analysts of other teams all know that, and Pompey players were waiting for him to do it. I shouted "forward, not back!" at him. as I could see what was going to happen, but I was far away - not that he'd have listened to me anyway - and the Pompey player took the ball. Then Bragg made things worse by grabbing his shirt. I think it would have ended up a comfortable 4-0 otherwise. But, credit to the 10 players for digging in. Celebrating at the end was so good that I really didn't want to leave. The last 2 minutes of the first half, after the red card, the atmosphere was a bit deflated, but apart from that, I could really only hear our fans. The love-in the Pompey players and fans had in their corner at the end was the only time I noticed them, but I still couldn't hear them.. [Post edited 11 Oct 15:57]

| Southampton V Portsmouth Matchday Thread on 15:47 - Oct 11 with 1262 views | HytheFerrytales | Eckert's programme notes were right on the ball. He said the key would be to embrace the pressure of a derby, the build up, the intensity and the passion of a support desperately wanting a win. However he said that all that had to be channelled into a high tempo physical performance that was controlled by a cool head. Looked like one or two of the boys hadn't read the notes. Luckily most had. Great win but one regret is that Pompey were so piss-poor that I think we could have cleaned their clock with eleven on the pitch. | | | |

Yes, until the moment Bragg got himself into trouble, we were all thinking : how many are we going to win by? But, Pompey's forwards really are p!ss poor. They were as big a let-down as their fans. [Post edited 11 Oct 15:56]

Sky picked out a few Pompey fans from central casting...you know the look... 25 year old laceless hobnail boots. Hand me down canvass trousers with clear evidence that the wearer had recently soiled themselves. String vest with holes containing some remnants of the previous day's tasty roast squirrel dinner. Teeth ( optional ) Long greasy unkempt hair and a wispy beard. Some of their male supporters looked even worse.

On the telly we were loud until we scored then went a bit quiet but 2nd half gradually got louder and they went silent. No doubt with a bit of help fro AI they can continue their portsmyths
