Ralph to retire in 2024 on 21:27 - Feb 7 with 1343 views | Saintsforeverj | Yes , have seen this. I take that with a pinch of salt to be honest. Didn't Hodgson also say he would retire after Palace? Ralph isn't that old is he, so I'm not sure what he is thinking here. He has years left in him. [Post edited 7 Feb 2022 21:28]

2 more years. £12m in the bank and retire. Fair play to him.

Ralph to retire in 2024 on 22:04 - Feb 7 with 1247 views | Poirot | He may not even get that far, half a dozen games without a win and its sacking material. Im not fussed thats for sure, he cant organise a team and relies on an easily exploited wingback approach.
Ralph to retire in 2024 on 22:43 - Feb 7 with 1186 views | Sadoldgit | Personally I shall be sorry to see him go as I think he has been very good for the club. He was never going to stay forever but this gives us further stability for another 2 years and also gives us time to plan for his successor. Hopefully we can win something before he leaves so his legacy will be a positive one and deflect from the two heavy defeats.
Ralph to retire in 2024 on 22:47 - Feb 7 with 1176 views | Saintsforeverj | A certain Alex Ferguson, planned to retire 2 or 3 times. Would be a shame if Ralph left after being one of our longest serving managers.

Ralph to retire in 2024 on 22:54 - Feb 7 with 1160 views | PatfromPoole | I do think it may well make signing players in the next 12-18 months more difficult. This sort of situation rarely ends well, I fear.

Yes, better to have kept it quiet, if it's actually true. It may well have a negative effect on the players along the lines of non commitment. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Ralph to retire in 2024 on 23:24 - Feb 7 with 1134 views | dirk_doone | By Premier League standards that is a long-term commitment. The total average tenure of a manager at one club is less than 2 years. He is the best manager we've had since Koeman and if he'd had the squad Koeman had, he might have done even better. He's brought the fun back to supporting Saints. Let's hope he wins us a trophy. It would be great to see him holding the FA Cup at Wembley. [Post edited 7 Feb 2022 23:27]

How can 2 more years for a Premier League manager be damaging? It will make him one of the longest serving managers in our modern history. If anything it's reassuring that he has declared he has no intention of managing another club, which kills any speculation stone dead. [Post edited 8 Feb 2022 9:46]

It’s completely damaging as:- 1. Players will take their foot off the gas as they think their manager is in retirement mode 2. Signing players will become more difficult as they will want to know who the new manager is going to be in the later years of their contract. This is seriously not a good situation for the club.

Don't be such an alarmist. If that were the case, as the average tenure for every Premier League manager is less than 2 years, it would mean all of the players in the league are taking their foot off the peddle because they know it's unlikely they'll still have the same manager in one year's time, let alone two. The main thing is he's killed any speculation that he might move to another club, which is something that's ongoing for every successful Premier League manager. Our players will be trying harder to win a trophy for him now. [Post edited 8 Feb 2022 10:05]

What tosh. The Ralphy favourites, Prowsey, Longy, Walcott y, McCarthy y, Reddo y, Stephens y, Romeu y, Che y, will all be crapping themselves as their Prem careers will be over. And Ralph's put a date on it for them.

Completely disagree. The club know exactly where they stand and can plan for the future knowing that they have no nasty surprises around the corner. As for players taking their foot off the pedal, why on earth should they? It is their career. Are they going to mess it up just because they know they will have a new manager in 2 years time (when most have a new manager within that time frame anyway)?
