State Of The Pitch Last Night 14:12 - Aug 31 with 1093 viewsSaintNick

It looked worse than on Saturday, I lheard that there was some sort of disease on it, but it can't have been helped by not only the hot and dry last couple of months, but playing the womens euro games on it plus the friendlies.

I would think that the club would be having second thoughts about playing all the women's team games on it this season now,

There's only 11 extra home games for the women's team between now and the end of April so not a huge amount and the issue wouldn't seem to be down to the number of games on the pitch.

"To be blunt" I thought you would have loved it as it was very much a pitch from the 80s.

What about all the cup runs though? And any friendlies they’ve played, as that would probably be another 6 or so games

There are some B team games also scheduled, 7th October V Aston Villa & also 20th October V Middlesbrough. then also some Premier League cup games in December

The pitch is designed to play around 20-25 first team games a season, the women's team have a game on 11th september and between now and Xmas there are a total of 4 B team games & 4 womens games so that is 8 fixtures thats heavy useage on a premier league pitch between now and Xmas

Do many other prem teams have their womens and B teams playing their games at their main stadium then? As what’s the reason the pitch ain’t being able to cope if other prem teams also have those teams playing thee as well then? Is it due to the fact that no pitch can, this disease or is that we need somehow a better pitch?

Leicester are the only team playing every WSL game at the King Power and average 1900 so hardly worth it really, better of playing in a 5000 capacity stadium.

Other teams may play the odd game and get a decent crowd, but far and few between,
1850 is the average WSL top league average, so no idea why Saints are doing it really as they'll be lucky to see a 3000 crowd this season in the second tier, which would fit in Totton's ground. Better for the Women as well really

Apparently there is indeed a disease in the grass. It would usually have been eradicated but the recent hot weather prevented this from happening.
Bit of a bloody disaster for a premier league team you'd think. Also you'd imagine they are immediately re-evaluating whether extra games and events are played on it. It's very nice to play the women there etc but not if the extra toll puts premier league status at risk.
