Proper Football 09:15 - Dec 21 with 1656 views | PatfromPoole | How was your matchday experience? Did it get the juices flowing? Far better than that international football nonsense. [Post edited 21 Dec 2022 9:17]

Proper Football on 10:31 - Dec 21 with 1521 views | SaintNick | It was good to get back and to get a win under our belts, speaking to a few people before many said that they weren't as bothered when England went out of the World Cup as they had been in previous years. The main thing was to win

It wasn't an impressive performance, it suggested that the players are struggling to adjust to a new way of playing, but given time they will adapt

A win is a win is a win. I have a query though. Has Che Adams scored 4 goals this season? Or 8? If Broja only scored 6 last season, then I fear this leaves Che on 4.

Proper Football on 13:17 - Dec 21 with 1362 views | dirk_doone | Our current No. 9, Adam Armstrong, has scored 1 goal in his last 35 games and he's still getting picked. It makes you wonder just how bad the alternatives must be.

And we will never know if they don’t get picked.

I didn't go but according to one paper report this morning "Southampton were laughably bad", "Maitland-Niles produced a personal reel of early blunders", "Lincoln looked slicker and more incisive until Adams pounced", and "The Premier League relegation battle won't be so forgiving" etc etc although we are now through to the Quarter Final of a major cup competition that most of the big clubs don't take seriously (until the semi or final) So the press are not so impressed, and yes it's the only report I've read. Hopefully you are right Nick about adapting under Jones, but he's had 5 weeks or so to work with virtually the whole squad. Maybe it was a good thing that was was "only Lincoln" as his first proper game (not worried about the Liverpool result) | | | | Login to get fewer ads

To be fair, they have struggled with any system they have been asked to play for a good while now, so I don’t put much credence in that theory.

It's worrying that Saints are so f@cking bad. Would we not expect some kind of new manager bounce against lowly opposition? A new reinvigorated squad under a new manager, because apparently they didn't get on with the last one? The own goal, the defensive errors, the misplaced passes, the terrible misses up front. How an earth are we going to get the wins needed with this team? It was slow, ponderous, frustrating and every f1cking negative word you can think of. The positive is that NJ changed it early enough to turn it around, but how many times are our hopeless strikers going to miss sitters? It wasn't Ralph's fault and it won't be Nathan's fault, but the team is very poor.

I judge Adams and every other striker on what they score in the Premier League, not whether they have got a few against lower league opposition, so the answer is that yes in terms of judging him he hs 4 this season, so is on target to beat last seasons total of 7
