Everton in for Che 16:12 - Jan 29 with 1134 views | Butty101 | Apparently having sold Gordon to Newcastle for 4mill they want to use some of that on Adams. Now I’m no Adams fan, but it would be mental to sell him to a relegation rival and then replace him with yet another raw winger. We should get Jrod back or someone of that ilk. Anyone watch Brighton today and see how good wellbeck is?

Everton in for Che on 19:12 - Jan 29 with 930 views | Capt_Koons | Brighton are doing what we used to do. Build a team around a mix of experienced pros and up and coming youngsters. The mentalists now running our club think you can do it all with a team of 20 y/o with no experience in English football. I don't know how long they are going to keep it up before they realise they need to build a team and not just buy to sell- on. I fear its not going to end well.

Everton in for Che on 19:21 - Jan 29 with 911 views | mushinexile | The football club is now no more than a financial instrument and the actual games and infrastructure no more than an inconvenience. The people who will run the club into the ground will escape with well filled pockets, just in the nick of time and a set of audited accounts that prove beyond doubt that they have not broken any laws. At least they aren't like that chancellor who thought he could get a trade discount on his tax bill, eh?

Whilst I do think we are buying a few too many youngsters, we have also bought some experienced players, Caleta-Car, Orsic, Aribo, Maitland Niles , James Bree are all over 25 years old and with experience, that is 5 of our 12 signings with experience. It is easy to just trot out the cliches about being a selling club etc, but they have spent a lot of money on players that they will see depreciate in value should we go down. Rasmus Ankersen has been involved in building up both Brentford and Midjytland in Denmark, neither club has been run into the ground. The inference that the ground could be sold to build housing is way off the mark, the land does not have housing approval

Aribo looked a breath of fresh air in his first 8 or 9 games for the club, Maitland Niles hasn't been a disaster he has had some good games but not really played regularly in one position so found it hard to get consistency I dont think we will sign him permanently based on what we have seen so far

And of those players of with experience, only Maitland Nile’s had premiership experience. Let’s be honest he’s been in decline for a couple years. The others haven’t yet managed to become regulars in the team

Absolutely. The others have had most of their experience in Leagues which are significant inferior.

That prolific goalscorer Armando Broja only had experience in an inferior league and he scored dozens for us

Do you think Borja would have made an impact for us this season had he been here? Personally I think we wouldn’t be bottom if he was leading the line. He would definitely have more goals than Mara who is yet to get off the mark (cup dont count)

I think he would have helped, because although his contribution wasnt great, if he had got the 5 goals that he had this time last year, we would probably not be in the bottom 3

About so much more than Broja’s goals. His presence, pace and ability to hold the ball up pushed us up the pitch and made us far more competitive in matches, and also took the pressure off Che Adams. It’s quite rare for a striker so young to become the focal point of the attack, but that’s what he was. The club not having replaced him is why we are where we are in the table, regardless of the ACL injury he has since picked up at Chelsea. Streets ahead of Mara, who has been a disaster.

Did I miss something last season ? I dreamed that the fanbase was up in arms because we barely won a game and couldnt score goals an they wanted the manager sacked ! Was that all a dream, was the open top bus tour good, Im gutted to miss that. Broja had his moments but ultimately he collapsed along with the rest of the team. I agree the club hasn;t replaced him, as i said his 5 goals in the League this time last year would have seen us out of the bottom 3 this season, but he was part of the problem as well in the second half of the season. Discuss (This means I'm not winding you up, just agreeing with you we need his type of player up front or at least the player he was between October -December

I personally turned against Hassenhutl when he chucked away the Cup quarter-final against City with his team selection. Others will have their own reasons for wanting him gone. We were very good indeed for about 6 weeks just after Christmas which saved us last season. Some of the performances were up there with the Koeman days. But it was the final hurrah and we have been on a downer ever since. Which is when you need experience on the pitch rather than youth.
