They say be careful what you wish for. 12:04 - Feb 12 with 2026 views | GRIM | We all ( sorry most of us) wished for Ralph to be replaced, but we should have been more specific & we should have wished for a manager that could sort out that mess at St Marys. We got our wish with Ralph going but look what we ended up with. Best not make any wishes this time.
They say be careful what you wish for. on 12:17 - Feb 12 with 1992 views | Ninja9 | I for one did not want Ralph gone . If he had had the striker he asked for and the financial backing that Jones has had in January i am confident we would not be in the league position we are in now .
They say be careful what you wish for. on 12:20 - Feb 12 with 1976 views | Chesham_Saint | Agreed. Perhaps the problem with Ralph was that he was such a likeable guy and we let sentiment rule for too long; however sacking the manager creates a vacuum so great care is needed. But….and here’s the thing: there are a finite number of people who can fill this role and a smaller group within that who are available. Of that group there is then a sub-set of those who just wouldn’t be interested. Which leaves, what 20-30 possibles? Take those remaining and apply the qualities need for the role and who are we left with? That’s all the Board has to do… Simples.

They say be careful what you wish for. on 12:30 - Feb 12 with 1962 views | UTS1885 | Ralph was a busted flush and the failure to sack him last summer is why we are now facing relegation. How we ended up with Jones is a totatl farce and no other PL club would have employed him.

THIS The responsibility lies with Rasmus and Semmens here The board had they spent and backed Ralph last summer I am sure we wouldn't be where we are now They then hired the welsh fool

Bring back Ralph until the end of the season. With a better squad and the strikers he never had, he could save us. [Post edited 12 Feb 2023 12:43]

They say be careful what you wish for. on 12:51 - Feb 12 with 1895 views | Jellybaby | A few of us on here felt Ralph had done a remarkably good job keeping an underfunded club in the Prem and he should have been allowed to see out the season at least and would have likely kept us up. The clamour for change has lead to a disaster and likely relegation, so the fans with unrealistic expectations share in some of the blame, however the fish rots from the head and the lack of serious investment until last week added to the sacking of Ralph and the subsequent punt with NJ points to bad leadership from the owners. Probably too late to stave off relegation but a top appointment like Bielsa could change the mood and give some much needed optimism.

They say be careful what you wish for. on 14:02 - Feb 12 with 1789 views | mushinexile | Seen in one of many possible contexts, I could think that the board thought it was the manager that was the problem, so they sacked him and bought in the laptop's favourite, found that it wasn't so they (reluctantly) spent the money and then found out that the new manager WAS the problem! Paying Ralph what they paid Jones for the rest of the season is a risky investment but probably the one with the best likelihodd of success. The players will not be easy to persuade, of course but they will know that they are better placed to earn a decent salary next season if they put in a shift for him and there is still a core of the fanbase that will be happy to see him back, yet more that won't begrudge him a second chance.
They say be careful what you wish for. on 14:42 - Feb 12 with 1691 views | DorsetIan | Ralph‘s time had been up for a while but the appointment of Jones turned out to be a disaster. The board need to appoint someone that the fans will be excited about. Someone we believe can turn things around. The task is now enormous. It’s going to take someone special. No more gambles please.

It's a no no to bringing Ralph back. It's not the fans fans that have to be won over it's the players. Ralph had lost the dressing room, those players are still here so we need to bring in a new face to excite & motivate the players. Albeit we are not in a position to attract an ambitious manager.

They say be careful what you wish for. on 16:37 - Feb 12 with 1505 views | TripleNiemi | Whilst it was blôody hard at times watching Saints under, Ralph I certainly was not in the ‘out camp’. Careful what you wish for indeed. So, with all the modern day Social Media mongs (sorry, ‘experts’) now is the time to pin colours to the mast and tell us who they would bring in……

They say be careful what you wish for. on 16:44 - Feb 12 with 1493 views | mushinexile | OK then. RH. The timescale is short and both he and the players know each other. He has had three months' holiday and is fresh and ready to go. Some players won't like it (some never do,) but there are options. Two wins in the next three would get the fans behind the whole club again and they need the twelfth man to succeed.
