Grimsby Seem To Have Sold About 4,000 Tickets on 12:38 - Feb 27 with 1664 views | saintmark1976 | Why should anyone be surprised at our low take up Nick? Just another example of how out of touch with reality the management of the club are at this present time. Completely the wrong pricing structure for a match played during a cost of living crisis against lower league opponents taking place on a Wednesday evening with a 19.15 K O and free to view on I T V 4 too boot. Any seat in the ground for £10 with kids for free would have produced a decent crowd and financially made little if any difference to the clubs takings on the night.

I’ve taken my kids to the Sheffield Wednesday and Blackpool cup games. The games have been terrible. I really can’t be bothered with this one when it’s on Tv as well. That said I would prefer we concentrate on the cup now . Going down with a cup final would be great

Firstly this is the 5th round of the FA Cup, if we win then we will be in the last 8 and in with a good chance of a Wembley FA Cup semi final. Secondly why is it the fault of the club management, why are they out of touch with reality. The pricing structure in the FA Cup has to be agreed by both clubs, the day and timing of it has been the choice of the tv company, given your views and that the final will be played at 4.45pm on a Saturday evening and free to view on terrestrial TV I take it that those not going to this one will apply the same decisions as to attending this one, I would like to formally request your ticket should we get there. The ticket pricing is fair, bear in mind that in the FA cup the visitors get a proportion of the gate money as do the FA so Saints cannot just give tickets away, that would be unfair on Grimsby who need the money from a good cup run. Initially the tickets were £15 but £17.50 is cheaper than the £20 it would cost you to get in to see Grimsby play Newport County next week, or indeed only £2.50 more than it would cost you to get into Eastleigh tomorrow night to see them play York. Likewise £7.50 for kids is very cheap. You say the club are out of touch with reality, but it still has to make money, it has spent more this season net than probably the last 5 seasons put together , it costs to put games on, the club has put it's hand in its pocket this season to buy players, no one can accuse them of not spending, so why shouldnt they ask the fans to pay something reasonable, to be honest the rules of the competition state the home club can charge what they normally charge for a League game. We could have charged double than what we have agreed, likewise Grimsby having to agree that we can cut the cost could have insisted on normal prices. They would gamble on their being more than half the crowd than we would have got, financially as out stands they might have been better off doing that. I might be old fashioned, football used to be very simple, ticket prices were the same for every game and you went along when you wanted, if the team did well then more people turned up. A parent & child can buy two tickets today for £25 all in, that is a cheap nights entertainment . On Wednesday night we have a shot at glory a League two side arriving for a place in the last 8 at stake, if you cant get excited for that what can you get excited about

Actually we will only have to give 2000 to away fans next season as the rules in the championship differ from the premiership . Am ideal opertunity to have more saints fans behind the goal .

I have only done a quick check, the minimum is 2,000 or 10% whichever is the smaller, however in practice at most games you get more than that, clubs who dont fill their grounds dont get precious about giving extra seats to away fans, Newcastle got 7,000 at several grounds when they were in the Championship a few years ago. The clubs that have smaller grounds have to give 10% of the ground, ie what Bournemouth do in the Premier League

If we take our recent forays into the Championship, we cap away fans to 2,000 and all that would happen is the there are a load of empty seats in the home section, and a load of irate clubs who would have taken more than 2,000 so will cap us at 2,000 in revenge and these will usually be the bigger clubs nearer to us where we want to take more than 2,000. This would actually be a good chance to stop selling tickets in the Northam and make the Chapel one big home area as it should have been in the first place and only sell single match tickets in the Northam when it is a big crowd

A good word, forays. Much under-used. Fiasco is also a good word. Though sadly that is seen quite a bit on this board at the moment……

Nick, a spirited if somewhat illogical defence of the pricing structure adopted by the club reminding me of your suggestion a few months back that we should all rush out to the club shop and solve S F C ‘s financial problems by buying a shirt or similar. If as you appear to suggest all is well, then surely by now many more tickets would have been purchased? It really is that simple. As for your suggestion that “ A parent and child can buy two tickets today for £25 all in, that is a cheap night’s entertainment” it would currently appear that all the evidence points strongly in the opposite direction. Regarding your request that you have first refusal on my ticket should we progress to the next round, let’s not get ahead of ourselves as we have to beat Grimsby first. In any event if you are a season ticket holder and guaranteed a ticket why would you want mine as well?

I just told you what the rules are, the facts though are that Saints do not control the prices, they have to agree them with the visitors and they have priced the game lower than it would cost in League Two and also several clubs in the National League What is illogical about that Price is not the major factor here, the performance of the team seems to be the issue for many. Yes I am a season tickets holder so i wouldnt need your ticket, but I would ensure that it went to someone who is genuinely priced out of going to games and would not be able to go otherwise. I am sure that will meet with your approval

Nick, forgive me if I don’t attempt to explain G C S E basic supply and demand economics to you. Reference the possibilities of sixth round tickets. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves but yes I would be quite happy to comply with your suggestion on the basis that you are willing to reciprocate.

It is entirely down to the performance of the team. Coventry last season was sold out, I think, and came in the middle of a run when the team were playing well.

It's definitely supply and demand. It's true, it is about the bad form of the team but it's just not good value for money to see our reserve team scrape over the line against a league 2 team, in a cup that we won't win. It's been a terrible season and they just don't deserve our support, especially for £19. Normally a fair price, but not when you're paying to watch a team of wet lettuces.
