Sekou Mara has been exceptional in training 17:22 - Sep 5 with 1828 viewsPatfromPoole

A quote from Rusty after the game on Saturday.

Do the rest of the team just sit around and play cards in training?

I can imagine Rusty and Musty admiring each others hairstyles.

On the socials yesterday we had Sulemana cooking in training and hammering a ball past the goalie from 2 yards. TEKKERS
Another fûcktard that’s done zero, apart from a MOTM in the Firminho testimonial, whilst drawing a kings ransom.

Remember Leeds away why he refused to chase JWP’s pass and Selles went APE SHIT at him?
Christ, we signed some shit.

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.

Little Theo says Sulemana is the quickest player he has seen.

A passing-down of the throne, if you will.

Fast Kid will cook, bae.

Probably in the Saudi League, mind…..

Training drill.

Rusty gets Sekou and Holgate together.

“Chaps, I want you for the next hour to just stand 2 yards apart from each other. I want you to pass the ball to each other 1,000 times in 60 minutes. If you can do that, you’re both starting on Saturday.”

2 yards away and expecting them to complete that is a bit harsh !

I gather they only just completed the drill in time as Holgate kept passing it to a player in the wrong colour bib.

Heard a good story yesterday from Steve Howie ex Newcastle. This was when Ardiles was the Newcastle manager. He said they play a strange drill that Ardiles likes. He runs through passing patterns on a full pitch with the 11 players in formation again no opposition.
They took the kick off and I'll spare you the long version but the Newcastle players knocked it around and gradually passed it back in their shape. The centre back passed it back to the goalie(can't remember all their names) who was actually putting on his gloves in the net - and the ball rolled over the line.
So Newcastle were one nil down playing against absolutely no one.
Howie said he looked over at Ardiles who was shaking his head and muttering something like "Jesus Christ we are in big trouble...."

Over the last few seasons I have lost count of how often we hear so and so is great in training but consistently fails to deliver when it actually matters. A bit like someone who revises alot for an exam but still fails against someone who barely revises, turns up and gets an A. I get why you may look at someone in training and say that person against that person is working harder so they get picked but what I don't get is why you drop someone who has been playing well in a number of games and then gets dropped against someone who has consistently failed to deliver in a game.

I do wonder what we do in training or how good our coaches are because so many of our players seem incapable of the basics. We have been poor for a while in the goalkeeping dept, our defence (no matter what the combination) over the seasons seemingly cannot do the basics and our attack (certainly at PL level) have been supine and ineffective - pre-championship - our conversion against chances was awful. I guess the bottom line is, quality - if you don't have the quality all the training in the world won't turn a beefburger into a best quality steak.

It’s the fans’ fault.

Reading that has just jogged a memory of a comical incident that took place during Alan Shearer’s home debut back in April 1988. The young Shearer is having a belter of a debut having headed us into the lead after about 5 minutes. Then comes the moment your post reminded me of; not that long after Shearer’s opening goal Kevin Bond had the ball near the halfway line, everyone is in our attacking half and there is not a lot of movement in front of him so when an Arsenal forward makes a move towards him, without looking properly, Bond swivels round and knocks a keenly hit back pass all the way back to John ‘Budgie’ Burridge - what he did’t realise was Burridge had his back to play and was totally unaware the ball was coming - it landed next to him in the back of the net! Got to be the most bizarre OG I have seen. I remember a picture in one of the Sunday papers of Burridge sat in the back of the goal with the ball on his lap, both arms up in the air and a somewhat exasperated look on his face with the caption: Budgie off his perch! Of course, Shearer soon put things right scoring his second of the 1st half, Mark Blake completed the 1st half scoring then Shearer got his third early in the 2nd half so all was well as we went on to win 4-2.

In terms of ability, Sulemana is the best player in our squad by a country mile. He's got scintillating pace and incredible ball skills but it's the application and consistency that's been a problem so far. Maybe he'll never fulfill his potential but maybe he'll find it in the right team with the right manager. He needs to be given free rein to run through defences like he did against Liverpool. I'm not sure he'll get that with Russell Martin.

I must admit after his brilliant performance in the Liverpool game, I was really looking forward to seeing him play for us this season, even though he is far too good to be in the 2nd tier. It would be great if we saw him at his best, at least until January, because if he does play his best until then, Premier League clubs as well as top clubs in Europe will be queueing up to buy him.

Dirk I'm not picking a fight with you but you give him a glowing report but why? We have seen pretty much nothing from him unless you count the glimpses in the Firmino testamonial at the end of last season.
There's more to being a player than speed and ball skills. If you haven't got the dedication or will to actually play then you're next to useless.
Bear in mind he is our record signing in our entire history. I'd at least expect to see him force his way into the team before now. Even Djnepo used to actually try !

You may be right about dedication but I see a potentially brilliant player there. I guess we'll find out just how good Sulemana is or isn't if he gets a run in the team this season.

His agent must be going flat out to get him a move to Saudi before their window SLAMS shut.
If not we’ll have a sulking player ambling about until January.
The worse thing is we are still paying him, and indeed touch of a rapist, Lanky ShitCûnt, to more than likely not play football for us.
You can be the fastest, bestest player in the world but if you ain’t going to try then whats the point?
At least Djenepo tried, he was just shit.
