People must beat the rush for their overpriced beer in a plastic cup. We stayed to the end, though sadly it takes no less time to get out of the Northam than it used to take in the Itchen North, i.e. an age….

The Northam & Kingsland was chaos after the game outside the ground, the footbridge was still jammed 15 minutes after the game had ended

More reason to stop the away fans walking up past the rail line and Kingsland Stand. Make them walk the long way round. Fuk em

You are right, all of those in the Kingsland plus some of the away support now have only one way to go and add to that there are extra fans coming from the Northam end to the footbridge. It was absolute bedlam

Absolutely, make them walk (unless disabled, obvs). I remember having to trudge around Upton Park, Old Trafford and Vicarage Road in the past...

Agree Nick and previous poster. I stayed until the end and did not rush to get out but it was a bottleneck at Northam because of the fanzone narrowing the width of the space and then Kingsland only really have one direction. We turned around and went down Britannia Road which was ok and will automatically do that in the future. In respect of the game itself - it was a borefest from my perspective and I felt I had wasted time and money to travel 240 miles to see it. I shouldn't have been surprised. Our start to seasons are always slow and I cannot recall the last time we started on the front foot. Did I hear it is one win in 17 years in a first home game??? I may have heard that wrong. Whatever we do or don't do pre-season it clearly makes no difference. I felt RM got the tactics and set up wrong and should have made the changes at half time. Did not understand why our supposed strikers were kept wide and I thought Armstrong and Smallbone had really poor games. Smallbone always appeared to be facing the wrong way when he received the ball and was unable to turn and run with it so invariably passed it back. A disappointing day all round but I should have expected it. I did not understand RM's comments about it being tense. I thought the initial fan response was good until the game itself drained the life out of them. The subs came late and were messy - Edozie offered nothing. Dibling did but it was too late.

I left straight after (allowing for the ten minutes of blockage getting to the exit) and there were no hold-ups at all via Britannia Rd. As for the gimps leaving early (excluding those with a pressing need of course) have they forgotten the late, late goal against Watford just a few home games ago (Flynn Downes 99th minute)? I mean, WTF?

| Southampton V Nottingham Forest The Verdict. on 11:05 - Aug 27 with 800 views | DorsetIan | At this stage so much is about seeing who can step up to PL level. Armstrong and Smallbone were not really able to in the past but they've got to be given another chance to see if they have improved since the last time we were here. They both looked very good last season, so let's see. Bellis is playing at this level for the first time. Downes too was excellent in the second tier but maybe WH knew something about him at this level that we are going to find out. For me, really only Bednarek and KWP are proven at this level. (And maybe I've missed some of the new arrivals). And tbh it's just as likely that Dibbling or Amo-Ameyaw can cut it as anyone else, as they are both too young to have been really tested anywhere, so we don't know how good they are. Edozie is another one. He had a few good games playing down the left last season but the evidence so far is that he doesn't quite cut it. He was the player who I thought disappointed most on Saturday. Early days. We'll know properly in 4 or 5 games time. | |
