Ironically we were due to play Leicester away in the league on the weekend of the next FA Cup rounds (Feb 14th). Liverpool v Brighton ; Hull v Chelsea ; Burton Albion v West Ham ; Grimsby v Wolves ; Aston Villa v Newcastle ; Birmingham v Leeds & Macclesfield v Brentford will ensure that our drab affair won't be getting moved in a hurry!

Not that it ultimately matters. Take tonight's & tomorrow's League Cup semi finals for example: Newcastle v Manchester City Chelsea v Arsenal What an absolute (predictable) yawnfest. The FA Cup will no doubt follow suit.

It's almost 20 years since Sky Sports last showed an FA Cup game live.

We've had 6 different FA Cup winners in the last 6 years, including Leicester and Palace, and, after the holders were knocked out by a non-league team, it looks like this year will see even greater surprises. The 3rd round saw some of the most exciting games in any competition this season. I just wish Saints were a bit stronger because a Championship team could well reach the final this year. Football is never as predictable as people think. If it were, the bookies would go out of business. [Post edited 14 Jan 12:16]

The last team to reach the final from outside the top League was in 2008 . I would love to see a lower league team get through but it aint going to happen

That year was an invalid year. A team cheated their way to win it that year.

It rarely ever has. From 1912 to 1973, West Brom in 1931 were the only 2nd tier team to win the FA Cup, In other European countries, it's even rarer. No 2nd tier team has ever won the Spanish cup. But, in England, every decade or so one reaches the final, and there is no less chance of that happening this year than there ever has been, and looking at how the Third round went, perhaps there is a little more chance this year. https://waroffutbol.blogspot.c [Post edited 17 Jan 11:11]
