Another reason to dislike him. Or is it?

He wouldn’t be saying it if Watford were top of the league.

Full of sh*t.

Sorry, but disagree. If I had a child with an underlying health condition, I would do exactly this.

And for the record I bloody hate Deeney.

Deeney has a valid reason not to go back as he has a vunerable child, but i think he is labouring a few points, his comment about not being able to go or a haircut but he come into contact with other footballers is crass and distorts the situation, if Watford were for example employ a team hairdresser and i wouldnt discount this happening with some teams, then it would be perfectly safe for him to have a haircut,

Likewise saying that their is an increased risk to BAME players, there is only a risk if they come into contact with carriers of the disease, which they wont if they are in the football enviroment due to the testing etc.

So... is it fair for the fans & other Watford players that they should lose one of their best players? Say Ings didn't want to play/train? It's alright saying carry on without them - but the clubs are at a massive disadvantage if certain key players won't play... and what happens if that leads to relegation?

It’s what he gets paid a ridiculous amount of money to do.

He’s been at home with his family for a couple of months.

Nothing stopping him from isolating himself from his them until the season finishes.

Like I said, if Watford were flying, it wouldn’t be an issue.

That's not what having a family is about. I wouldn't isolate from my family just for work, I'd rather be with them and if one of my children had such a condition, I'd definitely do it. What kind of selfish person would say "Bye, you'll have to look after the whole family on your own" and then not want to be with their family themselves?

He can afford to do that, granted others wouldn't be in such a fortunate position and would HAVE to go to work, but we shouldn't castigate him for doing the right thing.

If he gives up his wages then fair enough, he has a right to take unpaid leave just the same as anyone else.

Will he give up his wages though?

What I do find hypocritical is the same people that are championing the Premier League to restart, are the ones demanding schools stay shut and lockdown continues.

If we have restrictions then so should football. Just void the season and start again once we're back to normal. I've quite enjoyed watching some old games anyway.

The ludicrous charade of trying to finish the season under the current circumstances is laughable. Games behind closed doors, relegation threatened teams denied the advantage of a home crowd behind them etc etc. It has zero credibility. If necessary give Liverpool the title to stop the coonts whining for the next 50 years but just void the fooking thing.

Well, to add a bit of spice, Watford have got 3 of the 6 positive tests.

I’d be playing for time if I were them and see if there is a second wave of the virus.

It's obvious in my opinion the second wave will be soon. The UK public are being treated like guinea pigs; "yes x, y and z is fine, get out there but don't get out there, go there but don't go there", with people with a lack of common sense and the many large parties around the country form VE Day 75 onwards. If hospital admissions don't start to go up again soon I'll be stunned.

I walked the dog around Victoria country park last night (always have done for the last four years). Left it quite late, around 8pm. I have never seen it so busy. Lots of groups of lads, playing football, drinking. Loads of big groups of families. Absolutely no social distancing. Relying on the general public to use common sense was always going to be flawed. I walked past the burger van on Hound Lane (from a distance). It was packed, literally about 50 people milling around, chatting, socialising. It would appear that some people really do need sticky tape on the floor and stewarding to keep the correct distance.

We are being used as guinea pigs. Its herd immunity 2.0. The public has been given mixed messages and dog whistles. Private schools wont go back until Sept but state schools have to return in June. We have to go to work but the house of commons wont return until safe. It's do as we say ....

I am not going to agree or disagree with everyone on this I am just going to point out how I see various issues with the restart.

1, For the sake of continuity and for next season to be actually started we need to finish this season, voiding it has never been an option from day one, the only option is behind closed doors or declaring the current table the final one.

2. All this thing about football behind closed doors and not being real etc has to stop, this is an emergency situation, it calls for measures that are drastic and not ideal, but necessary, even the bottom clubs would rather go down fighting in an empty stadium than just be sent down as the season is ended, of course the clubs above the bottom three thing the exact opposite.

3. The clubs themselves have their own agendas depending on their position, the fans of the clubs seem to go on whether they are Liverpool fans or supporters of the other 21.

4. If footballers are put in social isolation for six weeks that is no different from what many would have experienced in this summers Euro,s if you play in a major tournament for your country you are away from your family for that amount of time , they are well paid so unless like Deeney they have a vulnerable child etc they do not have cause for complaint. In fact in the case of Deeney I would suggest he would be safer playing for Watford where he would be tested at least twice weekly instead of not knowing whether he has caught it whilst going to the supermarket.

5. I find it strange that in the latest results the ratio for those key workers testing for coronavirus who worked in hospitals & labs so presumably have been at risk or have symptoms, the positive rate is roughly 1 in 11, in social care and other key workers it was about 1 in 20 workers, in general testing again usually to those who feel they have been at risk or have syptoms the ration ia around 1 positive test per 8 testings so why have Watford's squad got a 1 in 3 ratio ? something doesn't quite ring true here, are their footballers truly ignoring social distancing so much more than the general public

6. I am truly optimistic for the future of the NHS, we are told so often that their is a shortage of nurse and doctors, but we now find we have thousands of well qualified medical experts sat in front of a computer screen, go on Facebook and you can find the up to date and accurate medical assessment on any of the issues, be it football restarting or kids going back to school and more to the point they cut out all the medical jargon so you can understand it, Whatever happens I am going to rely on what the UK medical experts say, are they right ? I don't know, with this illness no one knows until something has been tried, but I trust them more than I do most of the people on facebook, anyway lets solve the shortage after this is over by employing some of these people.

7. If squads are decimated by players refusing to play, then that is just going to be the thing that happens, these are tough times, in the past all clubs have had injury issues at times and had to put out weakened sides, this is why we have big squads these days.

Yes “this” about Deeney, but more lying and bullshit on the post about no cabinet ministers having kids in state school. What is it these days with lies and misinformation to suit political agendas?
Deliberately lying on public platforms is for c*nts.

I think the virus is going to die out over the next few months and then come back in December. I think we are coming out the danger zone for the time being. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Have other people who don’t go to work “given up their wages”? Many people (lazy and workshy?) are still being paid 80%. By the way, you managed to get another dig about schools being closed in. I don’t want schools to reopen until there is a general consensus that it is safe to do so. At the same time I don’t think that football should restart yet.

Danny Rose has also come out today saying he doesn't like being treated as a "lab rat" and I can see where he is coming from.
He highlights that people probably think cos they are paid so much money they should play, but he asks is it worth the hassle to risk his health for people's entertainment and does not want to be a part of that, if he's being honest.
He does have a point but I wonder therefore if he will continue to take his massive weekly wage? I'd genuinely like to know

He used to be all over the media once upon a time. You here so little nowadays that I assume that he had stood down. Players, like every other employee, should have a right to know that a return to work will be safe. If the employers want to keep paying them, that is their business.

Maybe, he should move on from football (i doubt he will though and still rake in thousands per week)
