I fear that’s not selling yourself in the best of lights, Mr. Dune.

This story is now running out of steam. People (and by that I mean normal people not Labour pro Remain activists) will be fed up with hearing about it now.

Cummings is brilliant. He’s got character and a personality. I wish there were more people like him. I would definitely get on well with him.

You really are insufferable so yes I expect you two would get along

I see some conservatives are breaking ranks and calling for him to go. Has Cummings got something on Johnson?

Apparently he hates racists, fools and arse-lickers.

Fingers crossed he’s got an interest in unusual vintage spoons.

He is on the Radio now.
Saying a few weeks back, people were calling him Dominic

Edit - Because of his tweet yesterday, he is now getting threatening DMs from left wing lunatics. Telling him he needs to be quiet etc

Politics aside, none of us are perfect and he did wrong / made a mistake. We all know we were not allowed to travel and taking possibly infected kids to the grandparents is clearly a mistake, unless you wanted inheritance on the house or something! An apology and admittance of mistake would have settled it I think.

To say he did nothing wrong, will set off all the inquiries and the one rule for us and one rule for them brigade, that they could have avoided.

There is a massive difference here. This man is the senior adviser to the Government and is obviously the brains of the operation. You just can’t behave like this in his position (well, actually you can according to his sponsor). He has shown utter contempt and a lack of judgement and so has Johnson by putting up such a pathetic defence. They have both damaged the party. Not really surprising that the usual suspects have jumped to his defence. Wouldn’t it make a pleasant change if at least one of the Tory boys on here showed they had a moral compass and came out against Cummings! I agree with Ian. No surprise that the wheels have come off but surprise at the speed with which Johnson has confirmed his critics correct about his competence and character (lack of in both cases). What a shambles.

No idea, and you are missing the point.....again.

This week we have seen the Tories at their most arrogant. The Jennifer Acuri case where Johnson clearly gave favours to his latest squeeze and Cummingsgate where the senior Government adviser stuck two fingers up to his own governments advice and then told reporters it was none of their business. Obviously, judging by the Tory supporters on here, this is par for the course and perfectly ok for the entitled. Hopefully the idiots who swooped allegiance and voted for this shower of clowns will release what they have done and not make the same mistake again.

My only criticism would be that we locked down too early and are coming out too late. I think right now we should be totally reopening and getting the economy going. People would be more careful now and many situations are no different to supermarkets anyway.

Surely you have got this the wrong way around? We locked down too late and are coming out of it too early. For goodness sake Dune, stay alert!

Starmer is just a puppet in charge of Momentum’s party. Labour is a party of Momentum members, with Momentum MP’s and a Momentum cabinet. It’s still the wacky far left party it was under Corbyn, but with a presentable face instead of a scruffy old Marxist.

Its not the time yet, but as we move back into a more normal period the press can get to work on destroying Starmer. It’s not going to be a difficult job at all because fundamentally nothing has changed.

Spoken like a true Tory dinosaur. The support that you claim your party has is evaporating by the day. Johnson has shown his true colours and only the truly gullible still see him as the amiable, bumbling buffoon who will lead us to great things. A great deal has changed already and there is more change to come. Johnson has completely misread the country on the Cummings issue and in doing so has backed up what people have been saying about him for years - he is not PM material. When even the Daily Mail turns on you you know that the game’s up.

Nah, the next wave this winter is when it will be serious. This wave has been nothing and we should have used it to build up herd immunity.

Why you so concerned about when Boris will go or not?You know all too well the House of Commons has a large Tory majority who follow their leader like the sheep they are.

Clueless, you really think a 2nd wave will be worse? The virus was in this country probably for over a month before lockdown, everyone carried on as normal, clubs, bars, pubs, football crowds, concerts , Cheltenham festival, tubes, trains, buses. People meeting up with a kiss on the cheek, shaking hands everyday for at least a month and it peaked in early April. With the way people are now being in the main responsible, keeping distance, no contact, no mass gaverings, people who are ill staying at home there is no way a second wave will happen, there might be a spike or 2 but it will be controllable.

Plus there should be the correct PPE, ventilators etc if there should be a second wave and medics/scientists etc will be better prepared. You’d like to think so anyway.

Experts have said a second wave has more potential to be worse than the first. Do the maths and look at the percentage of people who have been infected so far. It is very small, leaving a very large number of people without immunity.

This isn’t going away. I see that Cummings is going to make a statement later. No doubt a half hearted apology and a feeble excuse. If he had a shred of decency he would resign. Still, as Corbyn gave votes to the Tories, so Cummings will lose votes for the Tories. Here’s to the next 5 years of fun and games with the Chuckle Brothers!

Why will it be worse if we’re all being responsible? It won’t I don’t care what the experts say.

If Cummings makes a press statement it will be in breach of the code regarding political advisors. He seems to think nothing applies to him. The police are now formally investigating the matter now new evidence has come to light.

He is not the first to breach this code however. Alistair Campbell breached it. It doesn't excuse it though or the wreckless and arrogant jaunts he had whilst an infection risk.

As for this bizarre and corrupt conservative government, if what I have read in the FT is correct they may be providing us with the most socialist chancellor in half a century...things are strange. Are we all socialists now father?

As soon as the transition period is over, many old-skool labour heartlands will return red IMO. They wanted a full-on brexit more than the next man

Starmer's bizarre Brexit stance will mean little/nothing by then. Unless his loons start campaigning to re-join and all that

Because flu is worse in the winter when our immune system is weaker. The winter wave of Spanish flu was much worse than the initial spring wave. I hope I’m wrong but I rarely am.
