The tragedy of Brexit is that it has divided the country. Whether you are for or against its been divisive. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

On the plus side, I don't think our farmers and fishermen will need to worry too much about all of the bureaucracy involved now in trying to export their products to Europe as their customers will soon find alternative suppliers inside the EU. I really hope that our government offers financial support to British farmers and fishermen suffering from the impact of Brexit or, otherwise, like the coal miners, steel workers and most of British manufacturing industry did under Thatcher, they'll disappear. The difference is she had the North Sea oil billions to cover up her financial disaster; Boris doesn't. [Post edited 15 Jan 2021 22:15]

I'm quite looking forward to future beef mountains with knock-down prices then. My favourite meat beef. I'm also partial to a fillet steak every few weeks. There must be sh1t loads not going abroad now. Same goes for fish. I love it & eat it twice a week. Get in!

Good for you Not so food for the farmers or fishermen for whom this could mean them going out of business as they will be unable to recover their outgoings. [Post edited 16 Jan 2021 7:16]

Simple economics of supply and demand. Reduced demand equals reduced supply. Economies of scale keep prices low so if demand is scaled down costs go up. Increased costs equal increased prices and job losses. Nobody is in business to sell at a loss. Farmers and fishermen will need huge subsidies to survive.

One of the main reasons why the UK and USA have struggled more than other countries to deal with coronavirus is that we have so many coronavirus deniers. They just won't accept that it kills people or that there is any need to wear masks and some of them even think the virus comes from phone masts. He's not one of the phone mast people, is he? There was one who posted on here We now have the fishing problem deniers (they're probably the same people as the ones who are in denial about coronavirus). "Brexit bureaucracy has effectively put the fishing industry at a standstill. Meanwhile, Jacob Rees Mogg says fish are “happier” because they are “now British”." Rees Mogg is probably one of the phone mast people too. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/money/other/brexiteer-who-voted-to-take-back-control-o [Post edited 16 Jan 2021 18:37]

I do not think we have covid deniers. We have lockdown deniers in the words of the WHO, Lockdowns do not work as we cannot / will not imprison ourselves for months on end. at the same time, the country is being economically destroyed. Just remember, only 344 people u60 without serious health issues have (sadly) died. just 344

Who are you then? Lets have your thoughts rather than comments like that. Enlighten me as to what Dirk said was so foolish? [Post edited 16 Jan 2021 23:28]

We definitely have COVID deniers, thankfully they have their crack investigative journalists on the case. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/19016423.hannah-dean-posts-facebook-statement-c
