Just looked at his stats for Bayer Leverkusen.

In the Bundesliga he has been in the squad 8 times and been on the bench for every game, he has got on the field for 5 of those games for a total game time of 45 mins.

He has though started all 4 games in the Europa League plus a game in the cup.

In total he has managed 390 mins in all competitions, for Saints this season he managed 270 before he went.

What’s your point? He shouldn’t have taken a pay rise and moved to a decent European club and instead played in the championship. It’s not like he has a connection with saints

I bet he wishes he was back at Burnley, and they probably do too.

They're top of the Bundesliga , 2 points clear of Bayern Munich.
Great move for him, just hard to break into a side that are heading towards a Champions League spot.
As Butty says he has no connection to us and hes owes us nothing .
We were happy to bin him off on loan to Championship Burnley where he shone.
Good luck to the guy.

I was just providing an update on an ex player there was nothing sinister about it or a point, it was just to provoke discussion

If Burnley didn’t try and take the piss he would be there but I’m sure Nathan is delighted to be in Germany and not a run down northern mining town with 87% of the population wearing Lonsdale trainers

I have been to Burnley twice (over 40 years). Miserable place both times, so twice is enough, but the folk are nice enough, and insanely optimistic about their football club.

Fair enough. I see Tino's star is starting to rise again. I dont know if you saw his assist against Man U, but it reminded me of when he first joined Saints.

He is a good player he will be a great, but his career is not flourishing at Newcastle just yet, he was bought not because they needed him but because they didn’t want anyone else to buy him he should have gone to a top club where he would have got a game

He will be in the team sooner that later with Trippier at left back.

How are Newcastle not a top team? They are already in the CL.

I just watched Bayer beat Union Berlin to stay top of the Bundesliga. Nathan Tella scored a good goal and he still has a 100% winning record in Germany.

It would be ironic if Harry Kane went to Germany to win a league title and Nathan Tella's Bayer team took it away from him.

Tella has scored for Leverkusen.
They lead 1-0 and are currently 10 points ahead of 2nd placed Bayern Munich.

He is a useful squad player at the top level. Not consistent enough to demand regular starting slots. This is probably as good as it gets for him, so good luck to him.

Nick your stats are way out and you do him a disservice

Tella has played a far more significant roll than you suggest

He started 8 Bundesliga games, came on as sub in 16 games, scored 5 goals and 4 assists

Started 8 Europa League games, used sub in 2 scored 1 goal, 1 assist

In German Cup started started 1, used sub 1

Also started 3 for us , scoring once and one assist

So done really well in my opinion , and likely to finish with 3 medals at the end of the season

In fairness to Nick, those stats he posted were put up on the forum on Nov 9th 2023, it’s just someone resurrected the thread earlier today - puzzled me for a few minutes too!
Update as of FT this evening; Leverkusen finally ran out of miracle comebacks as ex-Evertonian Lookman scored a hat trick for Atalanta in the Europa League Final. Atalanta 2-0 up after 26 mins but instead of the usual Leverkusen fight back Lookman added his third of the night after 75 mins without reply.
As you rightly say, another medal for Nathan Tella but he’s had to make do with a runners-up medal tonight. A couple more seasons like this one and he can compare notes with Rod Wallace and his post-Saints medal haul from his time with Leeds & Rangers 🙂

Apologise to Nick, didn’t pick up original post was from November, but Tella certainly made an impact.
