MC has got to go 21:59 - Nov 5 with 59655 views | Wilkinswatercarrier | Sorry, but that has done it for me. You don't put a right footed player, you don't trust, at left back, yet leave your left footed defender at right back. Fcking stupid. A shapeless, gutless performance. Players walking, not challenging, arguing with each other. No shape, no desire. Something has to happen and fast as we have relegation written all over us. ***having had a good night's sleep, I don't want MC sacked, I just can't sit through this anymore. I actually hate this club at the moment.*** [Post edited 6 Nov 6:38]

MC has got to go on 13:26 - Nov 6 by ngbqpr | A lot of talk about how Marti "looks fed up", "can't have been involved in the signings", is "giving messages to the board with his subs bench" etc etc Yet he and Calm signed contract extensions only a few weeks ago. Are we really in such cynical times as to think they solely did that to ensure a higher pay out when it goes to $hit? Do they really have no belief in the (ahem) "project"? Just my rhetorical questions / idle pondering tbh... |
Christ I'd sign it in my own blood. I have no faith in some of my higher upper management; in fact I think they are clueless and don't understand the industry they are in (newbies that have crossed over). They are taking us down roads we shouldn't travel However.... if they ask me to sign a new Contract at a 30% increase then I'm there in the cheap seats big time.

MC has got to go on 14:37 - Nov 6 with 3180 views | Rangers67 | MC needs to stay for now and hopefully turn this sh*t show around. However I would suggest he is not blameless. Santos, whether he plays left back or right back as against Hull is simply not good enough. Now if Paal is our only other option then that says a lot about our reserve team or development squad and surely that situation lays at the feet of someone else, or not. What we are up against in all of this is the lack of transparency from the club which leads to some of the conjecture and arguing on here. On the playing side at the moment it is plain to see from on oppositions point of view if they score at least one goal we are going to lose the game probably as we have zero threat up front. So that raises the question of who is coaching the so called strikers cos it aint working ! I personally did not see a lack of effort from Celar just that he does not have that secret ingredient the strikers instinct. What I did see though was Varane and to a lesser extent Madsen hiding and not making themselves available for the ball. I lost count of the number of times Varane was facing Cook and Field who were looking for an outlet etc but made sure the Boro attacker was between him and our player and making no effort at all to move into space. Contrast that to the way the Boro players were pass and moving and then releasing players into space and it is like night and day. So this raises a couple of questions , are the players not being coached properly , or are they that short of confidence and sometimes ability that they are incapable of playing to some sort of tactics or pattern. Lastly the first thing I would do if recruiting a player is an IQ test. Early in the game on Saturday Smyth had the defender facing his own corner flag with no way out and the proceeds to barge into him which results in the awarding of a pressure relieving free kick, MC,s reaction to this was to signal to Smyth his disbelief that he had done this. Fast forward a couple of days and Madsen does exactly the same at the loft end to Djiksteel which allowed Seny to take the freekick at least ten yards away from where it should have been and both the ref and linesman ignoring it. All in all a very sad state of affairs at our club and the lack of honesty from the club about what is going on is not helping

MC has got to go on 14:51 - Nov 6 with 3061 views | garybevan1 | My question is who on earth thought Madsen, Saito and Santos were championship players? Madsen just watches the game pass him by. Watch the highlights and you'll see him simply step from one leg to another, like someone who can't dance but wants to join in, as the game goes on around him. Saito is too lightweight. Smiling all game doesn't make you a good player. Santos, I'd prefer Kakay. So how bad is that.

Agree on Saito. Add Dembele to that too. I thought after watching the first couple of games...that these two are going to get mullered in this league.Nothing since has changed my opinion. Absolute garbage the lot...apart from Nardi and Morgan to an extent. And our own "development" players are even worse. Apart from that...we are blessed. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I have no idea of the make up of this board or those commentating / posting On a personal basis I've followed and supported all my life. thats a few years I can tell you. Supporting them in my teens/twenties, followed them with a young family and then supported them with a ST during my 50/60's. I'm lucky as, unlike you supporters, I'm only following them. At my age and with a more circumspect view of the world I've clearly got a clarity of mind that says I've got better things to do with north of 50quid on a Tuesday night. These latter years of Paladini etc made me realise perhaps more than anything that I was being taken for a mug. Now, more than that, looking in on the debacle of the way the club is currently run I can see I have no interest in supporting them. Following, yes, but actually attending matches with my hard earned, nope, that ain't gonna happen. When I read these posts there are clearly some that are delusional, who really think next weeks game will bring a turnaround. I am the only one here that can see this club has been on the slide for over a decade, and the decade before that etc etc etc. Don't even get me started on the state of the art training facility, the hosts of home grown recruits we've developed, Richard Langley, come on down.....and since then, Chair. Thats it. I'm afraid can't offer the reader any solace, it will probably never get better in your lifetime, and, if it were to, it'll be a passing fad, the odds and the system / laws of the game are made to keep it that way, think anything else and you really are delusional

Harsh, but exactly how I feel. I have the advantage of the Irish sea between me and LR, so can't get to HQ if the notion gets me...but I can't even bring myself to watch us on my Firestick(ahem) now. We are a truly exceptional club...but not for the right reasons unfortunately. Ageing definitely focuses your mind on other things for sure. And this might seem a bit churlish, but I don't really like modern footballers... especially ours 😉

Burn the whole house down and start again in The National League |
"Burn the whole house down and start again in The National League". The trouble is, there is no guarantee this would help, and, knowing us, it wouldn't be long before the "We just need to drop into the McCarthy Stone Southern Premier and consolidate for a bit" posts started coming. I really don't think dumping Marti is going to help. For whatever reason, we have ended up with a squad which, if everyone is fit, available and in form, can just about compete in most games but which only has one, potentially two, passable strikers and which therefore requires others to chip in with goals regularly. The squad is so thin that it only takes two or three absentees to make it almost impossible for us to win. With this squad, I think any coach would face the same issues. It's during tough times like this when coaches really prove their worth and I want Marti and Xavi to be given a chance to fix things. We desperately need some reinforcements so I am praying we can pick up enough points between now and the window to ensure we are not cut adrift. Finally, let's not gloss over the failure of our player development. At the moment, it simply isn't delivering players of the required standard, sadly.

To many staff and players stealing a living from our hard earned money. 42 years I've supported this club, but I have never been as angry as last night. Problem is I think there are so many problems from owner, upper executives, playing staff, development coaches that for the very first time I can see the club imploding and going full Luton or Oldham. Even under Ainsworth it felt that changing manager would improve us, which it did, but this just feels a lot different. I fear we are on the edge of the precipice and it's a long way down.

I love the way Sitton literally sacked one of his players at h/t in that fly-on-the-wall doc. I'd pay for a dressing room seat right now to see someone come in and do the same to Madsen, Celar, or, well, you take your pick. We have the despairing antithesis: a manager who signals to the fan base his professional disempowerment/plea for sympathy in his latest post-match interview by telling us that the club has a 'model' and he has to work with the players he's got. Be careful of what you wish for! Those who've been proseltysing for a DoF-driven model with an applied footballing Weltanschauung have now got its parodic apotheosis in the form of a DoF/CEO/one-man propaganda machine who makes the club commentator look like a veteran. Few of our fans had heard of Marti before he was appointed. We're not a non-enitiy in a back-of-beyond country but a decent sized club in the Capital city of one of the most important football nations in the World and one of the top 45-50 clubs in the country. We're not going to be short of applicants, the trick is appointing the right manager. There were people walking around with Marti masks on at the end of last season, I understand why they may feel embarrassed if we sack him and may feel hurt, but keeping him in the hope he may turn things around is not the right option. As I said in the other thread, why is it not possible that Nourry AND Marti are both out of their depth? What in Marti's managerial career so far makes you so certain that he can be successful at this level or is it a leap of faith based on around 6-8 matches last season with a mostly Ainsworth team?

There are hundreds of managers available out there - any of them, they are 10-a-penny and expendable. It really shouldn't be hard to get a manager who knows the EFL and can actually win the odd game. But, nevermind that. Instead of deflecting from Marti's incompetence, why don't YOU tell us 5 things Marti Cifuentes is excelling at in terms of managing/coaching/prepping the team eh? Obviously you won't manage to list 5 credible things but I'll come back later with one suggested replacement manager for each of your reasons.
