He clearly wants to leave asap, to avoid being tainted too much by our relegation, but he won't resign because he'd miss out on the millions he'll get if he's sacked. So, he's saying things to try to make that happen.
Afterwards, he will, of course, blame the fans and say we were ungrateful for his great achievement (in getting us to finish 4th in the Championship, 9 points off the automatic promotion places).

I'm no HR expert but I know that we could just stop him doing sh*t like that (or pretty much anything) if he was on gardening leave. But if he did it with the club's approval, we would still have to pay him. The reality would be a negotiated settlement and exit from the club.
There's no way he would sit at home for 3 years doing nothing, so it would be a negotiated exit of maybe 1 years wages UNLESS he has some kind of sacking clause in his contract saying we'd have to pay the full amount. The club would have to be led by total morons to have agreed to that but..... | | | |
