I don't know how much they've spent but they seem to have replaced Gyokeres, Hamer and O'Hare with a decent players and they were ambitious enough to sack Robins and roll the dice with Lampard, which is paying off. They are also filling their (Mike Ashley's) ground now, which hasn't happened in years.
Maybe the fact that they are more savvy owners is the key thing. |
Coventry do not spend much I’ve spent a lot of time analysing them over the years as my mates a Cov fan and I enjoy winding him up. They also lose all their stars . Saints are a bigger club and are ambitious and do spend money but they’ve just got a lot of things wrong with recruitment . I would imagine Lampard would be interested in saints if Cov don’t go up. You are spot on with the approach we took, buying loads of cheaper unproven players, against getting fewer more experienced quality players in just didn't work (including loan deals)
The challenge we have is attracting those players that are in that £30m bracket, paying the wages that these players will demand, and willing to play in Championship. Delap is great example.

The issue with a Lampard is if he came in and did well he would be off to a ‘bigger’ club as soon as we were up
