Xander Schauffele will go close. As will Scheffler unfortunately.

I hope Rory wins but i reckon the course does for him mentally.

Dont know why we bother. .... but we do!

Sadly, I think preferring to back Europeans is a bit like preferring not to back Irish horses in the National - limiting your chances.

I've gone Danny Willett at 400/1 to try and get a bit of a run - ex Champ of course and usually plays well here regardless of his woeful form. Easy!

Got a sneaky feeling Aberg will do well.

Smells like a trout farm in here

Its going to be a 2 horse race between Scottie and Rory with the wee man finally breaking the jinx and joining the immortals who have won all 4 Majors .
This course really suits Rahm but nobody really knows how he is playing on LIV and his attitude might hurt him .
Aberg has the talent but not the experience here , Tommy Fleetwood might make a run but again not sure what his form is like.
Rose normally plays well here , fat man Lowry could play well depending on his putting which on this course is everything really.
Otherwise I have no idea just enjoy the coverage its the best week of the year IMO except Ryder Cup of course

I have taken each-way punts on both Spieth and Lowry both to win overall and to lead after Day 1.

Spieth has played really well here and has shown some sparks of form in recent weeks. Lowry has also played very well recently and isn't fazed by the pressure of playing in a Major. Both could give me a decent run for my money at generous prices.

2 of my 3 horses in this race too, the other being Cameron Smith.

Ha I've gone Spieth and Lowry too. Spieth I've never warmed to but obviously don't mind if he wins me some money!

Mrs Chef has gone for Rose and Fleetwood - bless her patriotic cotton socks.

Go on Rory

Bad match up for Rory that wa*ker De Chambeau is as slow as a snail and Rory likes to play fast and hit his rythem.
Plus he gagged away the US Open to DeChambeau and thats a pretty big physce advantage to Bryson.
If it was any other tournament on American soil the boozers would be in Rory's face but this is a pretty respectful place so that might be stamped out .
If Rory can get to the second nine in the lead he will win IMO because those water holes could drowned De Chambeaus hopes hopefully

Come on rory. Get it done. I'm each way on bryson, connors and Reed. I'd gladly see them all lose for rory to get that jacket

Annoying that De Chambeau holed that long putt on the 18th to close the gap but it’s Rory’s to lose from this position. He played some amazing golf today.

I backed Rory prior to tournament at 7 to 1

He was in great form prior to this, winning in a play off

However I had money on him to win the major last season and could have cashed out when he was one potentially two shots up with three holes to play and he missed two gimmes after.

Could have cashed out and got £220 but thought it was inevitable so the £300 coming my way, ended up being zero.

Think, it's all dependent on Dechambeau, if he doesn't perform today, Rory has this one

Fingers crossed !!!

I was hoping that he’d get a bogey on the 18th,but he holed that massive putt to finish only 2 shots behind instead of 4,which could well mean a victory for him on the last day unfortunately.

That was a BIG putt. McIlroy's wry smile as Bryson drained that monster was telling.

It's shaping up to be a humdinger of a final day. Fingers crossed the lad from the Irish Isles gets the job done.

From the Ian Holloway school of keep it tight early lads. Double bogey on the first.

I’m not a regular watcher of golf but I don’t really buy Dechambeau’s man of the people act. Bloke was an absolute cock when he started.
