| Pompey Away Details 10:14 - Jan 13 with 6263 views | SaintNick | They are now out in the open, I am still not sure why the coaches have to leave so early, also why we have to be there an hour in advance and i am concerned about the facilities when we arrive at Fratton Park | |

Here’s hoping. Might be handy if they are open during the game as well…..

The weather forecast is not looking great for Sunday. Therefore waiting for an hour to get on a coach at St. Mary's and then standing in a gulag at Fratton for 2 hours pre-match may have slightly less appeal than it may have done...

Weather forecast is 7 degrees Sunday morning and dry, 20% possibility of rain at midday, but we will be in the ground then so it should be ok on Sunday.

After watching that I think they'd be a bit underwhelmed by Fratton Park at 12 o'clock on Sunday. These midday kick-offs never have very good atmospheres.

I went to a few games there in the 70s, supporting the away team, of course. It was usually half-empty and the atmosphere was dire. I've also been to Pompey away games when I've been working nearby. I remember seeing them at Notts County, when they only had about 50 fans there.

Imagine going in there for 5/6 pints then sat on a bus with no toilet for an hour. The aisles will be a river of piss

| Pompey Away Details on 18:09 - Jan 19 by PatfromPoole | Bump. Just hearing on Solent that the total cost of policing the two South Coast derbies is £700,000!!! That bloody awful Crime Commissioner Donna Jones was bleating on that the sum which relates to the presence at the grounds (and which the Dibble can recover from the clubs) is just £35,000 each. That sounds utterly nuts. Is the cost of providing policing away from the grounds really around £630,000???!!!??? I thought that was the point of a bubble; it would prevent flashpoint places around the train station etc. Bonkers. |
Yes. Lots of use of overtime to police these games. Neighbouring forces will be used and there will be increased demands on the local authority and other support services. The helicopter will be up and roads will be closed. £700,000 for two games is probably a conservative estimate for two events like this. As for the fans experience it sounds horrific. Herded like cattle with little or no facilities. All watched by a load of snarling low lifes hurling abuse. Not for me. Sunday lunch in a nice pub.

Sounds like Smithfields in the City (early AM opening for the Meat workers finishing overnight shift)? Those of a certain age that worked in London (Farringdon / Moorgate / Fleet Street ) may remember likes of the Fox Pub ? [Post edited 24 Jan 12:13]
