I am wondering if anybody else is having the problem of answering the 8 questions on the Tifosy website. They all need to be answered correctly before you can either roll over your existing bond or buy new bonds. Unfortunately they do not tell you which one or more is answered incorrectly.

You just have to show that you realise you might not get your money back. So answer any question on that basis.

Did you invest first time round as I understand you get priority if you did? If so go into your Tifosy account and there is a section called something like 2026 investment and go through the process if you want to roll over your bond.

I did "invest" first time around.

Some sort of misty eye's misguided input to try and help the club.

I'd like to not be wrapped in for another 3 to 5 years and would like to take my money and interest and spend it on something else. It's not a lot, and I'd sort of written it off, but I'll have what's there.

Will have a look at this later.

Thanks

Yes, I thought it would be straightforward, but obviously got a question wrong, so I'm on the naughty step until I can pass the exam questions. I just want to rollover my existing bonds and thought it should be obvious that I understand the investment after all this time?

Interest rate much less attractive this time around than last time...

Is it? At a glance, I thought it was better.

Investment Terms
3-Year Bond
8% interest per annum, comprising
5% cash and
3% Club Credit (redeemable on tickets & merchandise)
25% cash bonus if QPR are promoted to the Premier League during the bond term
IFISA eligible for tax-free returns for UK taxpayers
5-Year Bond
8% interest per annum, comprising
6% cash and
2% Club Credit (redeemable on tickets & merchandise)
25% cash bonus if QPR are promoted to the Premier League during the bond term
IFISA eligible for tax-free returns for UK taxpayers

It was 5%+3% last time. The five year rate at 6%+2% is arguably slightly better.

Interest rate is exactly the same?

there's a 3 year extension with 5% cash 3% club cash or a 5 year extension with 6% cash and 2% club cash - it's actually a better interest rate this time round on the 5 years?

Can we not knock it?

I've received the email but I'm currently on holiday and haven't been able to read all the documentation, is there a closing date for applying if you want to chose the 3 or 5 year option.......Thanks

Yes but you have to compare with what interest rates you could get elsewhere. This is only 1.25 percentage points above the Bank of England rate now. You can get 4.5% from a safe as houses easy access FCSC scheme bank account where you’re not locked in for years, or over 5% from a blue chip company like GSK versus 5% from a loss making company at the whim of a single owner where you’re locked in for years. You expect a premium for a riskier investment with less flexibility that isn’t protected by the government. Last time round it was about four percentage points above the BoE rate, reflecting the risk.

From an investor perspective the qpr cash is trivial. How much polyester do you need?

The 25% promotion bonus is attractive.

But it’s not as good a deal compared to last time and where else you could put your money.

Good info but wasn't the interest rate 'artificially low' in 2021 due to trying to 'kick start' the economy after the pandemic?

Back then the qpr bond offered a premium above what you could get elsewhere which reflected relative risk. This time around it doesn’t really.

Agree. The original package was financially more attractive plus the purpose of the bonds was more tangible. Not sure that the take-up will be so good for this deal.

Heads up ......... If you have an Outlook email account the email won't show up on your iphone -- you have to log in over a web-browser.

I've just noticed this is the case for quite a few emails from certain people like Bolt etc

The club cash wasn't able to be used on tickets previously which is better.

Really? Whereabouts are you seeing 5% cash plus per year? Most ISA's I've seen lately are at best just over 4%.

5% cash + 3% in goods is a decent return. You may get better but not in many places, nor without higher risks.

When the QPR bonds were issued in November 2021 Bank of England base rate was 0.1% and the best you could do with a five year fixed ISA was 2%. Less for shorter terms. So 5% - 2% = 3% difference. Worth the risk? QPR v completely safe.

Now base rate is 3.75% and top five year fixed ISA 4.17%
I guess the risk is less now than we were looking at in 2021. Which is a plus but still financially less attractive.

If you are happy to gamble that your money and interest with QPR is completely safe then fine. I took the risk in 2021.

The other factor to bear in mind though is that at the time of the first bond, interest rates were on an upward trend, so the interest gap was going to close over the period of the investment.
This time around it is the opposite. Interest rates are on a downward trend so it may not look as attractive now, but this will improve over the duration of the investment.
