| Tonda says he's NOT worried about being sacked. 13:23 - Jan 18 with 1309 views | GRIM | Tonda has gone public & said that he's not worried about losing his job. That just about sums our club up, he should be worried, if he cared about what he's doing then he would be worried. If you heart is in the job then of course you'd care about losing it. If he doesn't care then the players won't care either, it's blatantly obvious that the heart has gone from our club & the only ones that care are us fans. | | | | |

YES. To that extent it is not his fault - though I guess he could have said, I do not yet feel ready for the next level. I could understand them placing him as interim until they found someone experienced - they had sufficient time, but they were not even interested in finding someone else. Tonde getting some good results as interim manager made it easy for SR. But, given last season's nightmare and the tried, tested and failed method of employing someone with a lack of experience (e.g: Still) Tonde was not the right choice. But, everyone should be worried about being sacked. The trouble is, in football, sacking usually results in a payout and soon into another job. But this failure and that of Still is on SR as was some other appointments.

Nothing wrong with saying that your afraid of losing your job. It shows you care about what you are doing. But in the unreal world of pro football the incentive is to fail.

And there is the point exactly. He was doing a great job with the under 21’s because he was mostly left alone to do it his way. He was allowed to do it his way for the first few games in charge of the first team too, with great results, then suddenly it all stopped. Nothing changes as suddenly as that for no reason - it has to be Spors /SR demanding that he went back to the playing out from the back Martin nonsense. It has to be that. Why? Who knows, but the only answer must be that they don’t want promotion for whatever reason… If that’s the case they have been selling season tickets under false pretences. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Being an under 21 coach is very different to managing the first team An under 21 coach's job is to develop young players and prepare them for first team football, whilst its good to win its more about player development Totally different in the first team, you're judged on results and not much more Personally I think its just he's a young, inexperienced manager who's been worked out, hasn't developed a plan b and is in charge of a toxic dressing room where the senior players who should be setting the standards are letting him down Spors must have known that there were issues with the dressing room culture before TE was appointed so why he felt appointing the under 21 coach who had no experience was a good idea looks foolhardy to say the least I appreciate that he won 6 out of 7 but the performance away at Millwall and the drop off in the second half of games was concerning [Post edited 19 Jan 21:16]

if he's doing else, you would hope that Romeu is sorting out the dressing room.

Not sure Romeu is even in the dressing room. He's Not been included in the last couple of squads, not even on bench so unlikely that he's involved in the dressing room.

I meant it more generally. We've got to to hope that he is a positive, unifying influence behind the scenes and that he's getting the prima donnas in line.
