There’s no chance this isn’t bent. The Cameroon match was bad enough without them needing help but that was something else. They’ve been horrible whingers led by Diaz all tournament so it’s great he was arrogant enough to try that. Would be incredible if Senegal somehow win it now.
Mad end to that final. Never seen anything like that. The ref got the Senegal disallowed goal wrong and the penalty decision wrong, but he was bullied into that. God knows what the punishment will be for Senegal walking off, apart from Mani, who had the class to get them all back out. Then a penalty that almost felt like Morocco giving the ball back to Senegal. Then that goal. Total madness.
Loved it. What a final. Mate I was watching it with (sober as a judge) said “he’s gonna Panenka it .. he’s done it before” Scenes in the pub! And then the goal. What a strike and from a player who was fking knackered. Fair-play, respect Senegal. Even tho the trophy looks like a Wimpy’s knickerbocker glory.

Some strange decisions in the final and I think I heard them say Nigeria were unhappy with some in their match against Morocco (a bit like the ones that ‘helped’ co hosts South Korea get to the semis in 2002). The ref was clearly instructed to award the penalty, but disallowing the Senegalese goal a few minutes earlier was his decision.
I don’t blame the Senegal coach for taking his players off the pitch. He had to make a point about the dodgy refereeing. I think the long delay and Mendy’s words to Dias got into his head, but there’s no excuse for the pathetic attempt at a Panenka. Just get some power behind a head height shot down the middle.

I found it very odd that after the penalty miss there was no strong reaction from either team - wouldn't be surprised if during/after all the hoo ha, Morocco agreed with Senegal that they would miss it on purpose.
