| Adam Armstrong off to Wolves for £7 million then.... 15:16 - Feb 1 with 2443 views | PatfromPoole | Have to say, when you think that is what Damion Bloody Downs cost, it looks a bum deal to put it mildly. Dread to think what replacement Spors has lined up. Have a very bad feeling about this. | |

| Adam Armstrong off to Wolves for £7 million then.... on 15:30 - Feb 1 with 2364 views | shotters | Seems rather low to me Whilst I appreciate he's 28, will have 1 year left on his contract in the summer and it seems he wants to leave (his non reaction to Leo's goal last Sunday was pretty telling) to sell him for that fee and this late in the window when prices are inflated, I was expecting the fee to be over 10 Lord knows who'll we'll get in as a replacement, what's Bas Dost up to these days? Just been reading about some Canadian mush we're looking at bringing in from Feyenoord 0 goals in 8 appearances this season Hardly inspiring if true [Post edited 1 Feb 15:53]

My concern is the fact we've not been linked with any players is less about the club doing their business discreetly and more that we have no intention of spending any more money. We'll likely get a striker from the danish second tier on loan that has three career coals but a high "xG". With Kat attending recent games, I can only hope there is a potential for the club being up for sale. As it stands, it's pretty depressing. However the standard is so low we remaining within touching distance of the playoffs.

Just edited my post after reading about this Canadian Hardly inspiring career stats if we're looking at him and a definite downgrade on what we had

| Adam Armstrong off to Wolves for £7 million then.... on 16:22 - Feb 1 with 2190 views | InTimeAddedOn | Totally agree Pat, a bum deal indeed. Apparently an extra £2m in add-ons, that’s if they ever get paid, but still not enough. God only knows what we will get as a replacement given SR’s pathetic recruitment record overall. One report I read today says they have a replacement lined up that will be better suited to TE’s style of play. Have to say, a clever bit of business by Wolves. They know, as indeed we do, AA will probably be as much use as a chocolate fire guard in terms of saving their season, they are already planning for next season and have got themselves a player capable of 20 goals a season in the Championship and he will be fully integrated into the set up and available from game No.1, not signing at 9pm on deadline day at the start of September. As I have said, a clever bit of business in what will be a much stronger division next season. [Post edited 1 Feb 16:26]

Especially if they have sold Strand Larson for 40!!!
| Adam Armstrong off to Wolves for £7 million then.... on 16:29 - Feb 1 with 2157 views | shotters | This reminds me of when Fonte left in the January window a few years ago We were left scrabbling around in a last minute panic trying to get a replacement in If my memory is correct we tried to sign someone from Swansea who turned us down We ended up bringing in Caceres who hadn't played for months and only made 1 appearance in one of the last games of the season, meaning Claude Puel had to got ultra defensive as he only had Yoshida and Stephens as his first choice central defensive pairing | |

High fives all round in the Wolves boardroom then! And the SR Gimberts will still think they are cleverer than everyone else…
| Adam Armstrong off to Wolves for £7 million then.... on 16:37 - Feb 1 with 2131 views | Block8 | There are strong rumours of AA being the cause of much dressing room discontent, so maybe they just want him gone. However with Wolves getting £48 million for Strand Larsen we should have been able to get more! Hopefully we have someone else to add to the Canadian 🤞🤞 | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Perhaps you're right about AA being a bad influence in the dressing room. I personally always thought he played like a schoolboy perhaps he behaves like one as well. How he was ever made Captain in Slack Jack's absence I shall never know. But we thank him for his goals & contribution. Problem is we're now a striker short, this Canadian guy is not the answer. We may have to bring Brereton Diaz back.

Wouldn't surprise me However, seeing as he was rather unceremoniously dumped and farmed out to West Brom last season I can't imagine that he felt particularly wanted when he came back in the summer I appreciate that my initial response to Larin could be seen as a knee jerk reaction but going by Sports Republics track record of recruiting strikers, it's not without foundation

Larin was previously banned from driving because he was found guilty of driving while over the legal limit. So he'll probably be a worse influence than AA ever was. Just watched his video which normally shows their best bits, if this video is anything to go by then we've got a real duffer. None of us know of him so we can only judge him on his stats & they are not very good. [Post edited 1 Feb 17:06]

| Adam Armstrong off to Wolves for £7 million then.... on 17:01 - Feb 1 with 2060 views | MattFinish | I'm sure SR have already lined up an 18 year old striker playing in the Macedonian second tier for £10m to replace him | | | |
| Adam Armstrong off to Wolves for £7 million then.... on 17:16 - Feb 1 with 2012 views | Ifonly | This obviously wasn't the plan at the start of the season. No club plans to sell players in January. The plan would have been to wait until the summer and then either get him to sign a new contract or sell him then. So what's changed? I'm doubtful that it's down to his attitude. There may be some truth in that but it hasn't been a big enough issue to stop Tonda playing him. I think it's just down to the fact that Tonda doesn't rate him as a centre forward and doesn't need him as a right sided forward in a 4-3-3 or whatever. I suspect his priority is to get some physicality in as a back up to Ross, but of course it's unlikely SR will sign anyone who's any good. | | | |
| Adam Armstrong off to Wolves for £7 million then.... on 17:19 - Feb 1 with 2007 views | Southamptonfan | I do find it interesting that we are selling our leading goal scorer in the middle of the season, when we want promotion, getting 10 million for him and only bringing in a loan player. A case of reading between the lines? Is Armstrong one of the trouble makers, along with Archer, Bazunu, Aribo all now out of the door? We played so well yesterday without Armstrong and Archer in the squad. That was interesting that the players didn't seem to care that he is going. In fact they seemed happy. Do we need the money desperately? The sudden appearance of Kat at Pompey? Is Solak getting in as much money before he leaves? The would make more sense only if we were also selling Harwood-Bellis wouldn't it? Hmm, things going on behind the scenes??? [Post edited 1 Feb 17:21]

If it’s 7 mill that is ridiculous. So this season we will have sold or loaned out 6 strikers this season, and will have bought in 2 , of which 1 has been loaned out. It’s def not a fire sale

| Adam Armstrong off to Wolves for £7 million then.... on 18:28 - Feb 1 with 1851 views | shotters | Still 24 hours to go before the window "slams shut" so there might be other things going on transfer wise If not this hardly shows the club saying that they still believe that we have a chance of making the play-offs, if they did then there's no way they'd even entertain selling our top scorer and a proven performer at this level for the fee quoted I don't think we have any chance personally, but it's still mathematically possible | |

Watch this space. Adam Armstrong couldn't cut it in Premier Lge for us, what makes Wolves think that he'll solve their problems in front of goal. I predict after a few games he'll become a bench warmer. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Agreed Grim but I think Wolves know AA is not the answer this season, I reckon they have already accepted the fact that they are destined for the championship next season and are therefore already planning for that eventually. Buying AA now instead of joining a bun fight for his services in the summer delivers them a proven goal scorer at championship level who can hit the ground running from Day 1, fully integrated into the Wolves way of playing and not coming in at 9pm on deadline day in early September. If the figures are right then it is a clever move by Wolves as they have secured his services now.

Adam Armstrong struggled to get regular games last season whilst on loan to West Brom. I think the same will happen at Wolves next season in Championship.

That's actually a very good point Grim, I'd forgotten about his lack lustre spell at West Brom - one thing for sure, the Baggies fans are in for a shock when they see 6'4" Strand Larsen replaced by a comparative midget! [Post edited 2 Feb 0:18]

| Adam Armstrong off to Wolves for £7 million then.... on 10:13 - Feb 2 with 1119 views | Ifonly | Wolves play with 2 strikers (5-3-2 at the weekend). That will suit Arma just fine. He can't play as a lone striker or centre forward but if he has someone to feed off, like he did with Che Adams, then he'll do fine again in the Championship next year. | | | |
