I fully understand why it was closed for the friendly game against Fiorentina, or if we had been drawn against a first or second division team in the Carabao Cup. Our club have never had an interest in the cup. Look at the side Stephan put out last year. I’m sure this year will be no different hence all our lot not bothering. When the club start taking cups seriously, then so will the fans. |
I agree that the clubs attitude is awful in relation to the cup comps , however when you say that you are sure this year will be no different well i'm not so sure.
There are a full 2 weeks after playing the last of the 6 friendly matches & the 1st league game , it would make no sense to have that build up & then have your top players sitting around for 2 weeks not playing any games .

i have very litttle interest in this game at this time, mainly as the area becomes a police state which enforces millwall's bullying behaviour and forces QPR to usually have to take longer routes away from out home stadium to stations ! any form of segregation should be for the benefit of the home fans .

Given most away fans want to stand this makes a lot of sense.
Imagine being an away fan and you wanted to be seated and the fans in the rows in front of you all stood up.

I’ve got my ticket. I might be naive but I’m expecting a full strength team akin to the last preseason friendly (but with some added edge). For that reason I thought it was a great idea to bring the League Cup games forward to a week before the championship starts. |

I think it is better suited to be treated as the last warm up game before the league starts and whenever possible, a strongest line-up to be selected.
Madsen is injured, so will be missing along with Lamptey, Kolli, Dembele and Obikwu, but otherwise it should be a good line-up. | | | |

It is often forgotten that with the cup games ticket sales start form scratch , whereas a league game has circa 9k season tickets already sold these cup games start from zero.
Stick this game in october & yes there would be a larger crowd but nowhere near a full house.
Just hoping we can somehow scrape through & get something interesting in the 2nd round away from home like Barnet , Orient , Colchester even Cambridge again which was great fun 2 seasons ago . [Post edited 6 Aug 11:33]

I booked a holiday specifically to end in time for the start of the Championship season.
I did that before they announced the EFL cup would take place ahead of the Championship season, which they only announced in January.
I would've have definitely gone to Millwall at home (or away!) had I known it was a possibility. I am sure I am not alone in this seasonal planning holidays around football calendars, especially parents. I doubt very much fewer would've come three days after Pompey. I know of other fans getting back in time for that.
I'd stick my neck out, in fact, and suggest that had the game taken place after a positive result at Pompey (which has sold out for away fans), QPR would have a healthy 13-14k+ in. | | | |

It's the first competitive game of the season and should be treated as such.
Maintain high standards from day one, as a club we will be going out to try and win every game and be as competitive as possible. If you start with an attitude of oh well this one doesn't matter then no shock when the team randomly phones in a few performances through the season.
Start as you mean to go on. Strongest team, try to win the game. We've just had multiple preseason games to experiment. |  | | |
