For the life of me I cannot understand the Club’s decision to close the Stanley Bowles stand for this game. I fully understand why it was closed for the friendly game against Fiorentina, or if we had been drawn against a first or second division team in the Carabao Cup. Millwall is a local derby, however, and considering our increased attendances last season, and frequent sellouts, I would have thought it would attract a sufficient crowd to open the stand.
It's the first competitive game of the season and should be treated as such.
Maintain high standards from day one, as a club we will be going out to try and win every game and be as competitive as possible. If you start with an attitude of oh well this one doesn't matter then no shock when the team randomly phones in a few performances through the season.
Start as you mean to go on. Strongest team, try to win the game. We've just had multiple preseason games to experiment.
Think im in the minorty to think this is a great idea to play the cup game before the season starts, last season watford away then a lovely midweek trek to plymouth to watch the embryos play . hopefully this idea is carried on for future seasons , just sods law we got a rubbish home draw this time.

I agree it's a good move by the EFL, better crowds and teams more likely to play stronger sides. I'd go further and have the first two rounds before the league season starts then start the league season same weekend as the Premier League. If you get knocked out have an extra friendly
Nothing says we're not confident about making the playoffs more than signing Lyndon Dykes.
For most clubs I’d agree. For them, he’s an option for a specific role and probably won’t start games unless they’ve got plenty of injuries. A bit like signing Bannan though that didn’t work out well at all. He’s free, presumably not crazy wages, experienced. I doubt we’ll be sat here in May with him on 15 goals but you know with Millwall it’ll be a fit when needed.

Because its the first competitive game of the season; both Julian and Neill have said they will play strong sides. It could be a cracker in that case.

Interestingly, they chose the final shot of Stephan's pre-match chat to include Madsen and Obikwu. Hopefully it's an indication they're close to a return, and in Madsen's case, I think he is.

They might make a load of chances for him but, going by his career to date, he’ll miss most of them. I still can’t quite believe that chance he put over the bar from half a yard out, in the middle of the goal, at the Loft end. It defied the laws of physics.
Great character, not many would get off a sickbed with pneumonia, to get back playing asap, but a poor finisher nonetheless. That being said, wish him well, apart from against us, of course.
Edit: or maybe that was Hugill. Apologies to Lyndon if it wasn’t him. Maybe his was the one that hit the keeper from about a yard away. Too many sitters missed to recall them all.
Unfortunately you are right about the SB stand but only if we opened it to Millwall who would probably fill it. I will be one of the few Hoops attending for 90 minutes of “your ground’stoo big for you”.

yes its the usual road closures after the game not as bad as normal as they are exiting them via ellerslie finally instead of south africa road , wont be a full house so wont be an issue getting away.

If you've got Sky you can watch it on the Sky Sports App or on SkyQ it will be on the main menu
Now TV offer a day pass for £14.99 which will include the game, never used it though so not sure how good it is, probably better value to buy it for a month and you'll get the next round as well and the Portsmouth game.

Yes, have been for years, and watch almost all games. It's hese cup ones that annoy me, since there's no way to get them, and yet they're broadcast worldwide mostly to people that don't give a toss
