Vokins shows promise and delivers a decent ball into the box. He could do with a run of games in the Championship to bring him along. It’s a shame that we don’t still have the reserves system. The B/under 23 don’t seem to play that many games and the quality isn’t great. If bench players were given a run out the second string would get a better schooling. As we have seen from our academy players, it isn’t easy making the step up. |  | | |

Didn't Ralph say that they preferred players to stay here rather than go out on loan — on the basis that they would learn more about how we want them to play? I thought they had high hopes for Vokins, but maybe not. Either way they must have a replacement lined up. | |

The Club is right. Vokins was weakening the position, not strengthening it. They are hoping that time spent playing at a lower level will help improve him so that one day he might be good enough to play in the Premier League. Nothing wrong with that. | |
