| Summer on 08:33 - May 9 with 1347 views | 1teeminants | I think it’s obvious something needs to change. We have a few players who have one good game in 5 which is not good enough. We have bought well in the past but we’ve also bought some duds. Finding gems like Mane, Van Dijk, Pelle, are the key. All these players were around the 10 million Mark I believe so it can be done. Hopefully we’ll get some sort of investment in the near future to help. | |

We've got Salisu, who I thought would have done a better job than Bednarek yesterday.
| Summer on 09:32 - May 9 with 1295 views | A1079 | You are right 22 that in theory we should be thinking, in fact already have, a shopping list of areas that need improving and rebuilding on the pitch but in reality, as things currently stand, I cannot see it happening. In fact, I am of a mind that one of two things are more likely to happen:- 1. very little. A few departures but not much else because there is no change in leadership or attitude and therefore investment; or 2. Gao does decide to put up a sale but we spend much of the summer in flux at the top and by the time that is resolved it is almost too late to correct the problems on the pitch i time for the next season. No matter how this season is dressed up, the short golden period aside, this has been a very poor season on the pitch. No matter what sort of Saints fan you are, you cannot feel anything but disappointed on how the season has panned out. Abject performances, too many players that look championship level at best both in attack and elsewhere, all too often a lack of fight and desire or plan. I appreciate that this is a depressive negative view of what lies ahead but unless there is a fundamental change in attitude and approach by our current owners or leaders or a change, then it is difficult to see next season being that much different to this. | | | |

Yes I agree Ron. I thought it very odd not to start Salisu in some position . Let’s not forget Walker Peters was at fault for both goals though not Bednarek and KWP has been brilliant for us .

Agreed Bednarek needs a rest Equallyvwhere vestergaard always looks to pass forward bednareks first instinct is to turn back and play sideways or backwards which slows our attacking momentum
| Summer on 07:25 - May 10 with 1088 views | saintwizzler | Which players would any other top half premier team want of our squad? Ings, Romeu, JWP, KWP and Armstrong. The rest are not good enough. Maybe Salisu, Tella and Diallo will progress? £10m buys nothing these days. £25m + is the starting point for the next Van Dijk, Pelle, Mané. KWP was a good buy at the money, but Diallo and Salisu are work in progress not first team starters yet. | |

Nothing new there Triple, it was an ironic question really I expect the bigger disappointment will come this time next season if those issues arent addressed | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yes, he does it almost all the time, frustrating to watch. Salisu looks to be more forward thinking.

| Summer on 09:54 - May 10 with 969 views | Sadoldgit | Walcott looks like he will be staying. Not sure about that. Ok for a squad player but assuming he doesn’t take a massive pay cut I would rather the wages were spent somewhere else. I do think that we shall get some players in. Whether they will add the quality we need in depth is another issue. | | | |

Talk about sending out the wrong signals. He's just far too inconsistent, and it's inconsistency which is making us such an easy team to beat these days.

Thats being kind He has looked nothing short of useless A total waste of a squad place and money, as he is on a free you can expect he will be wanting £80k a week

That's not true. His finishing has been pretty poor, but there have been games when he has added quite a bit of energy to our attack and where he has been able to pick up the ball and run with it, taking on defenders, without falling over or being immediately dispossessed. In recent games he's been consistently disappointing, I'll give you that. I'd say that Minamino - his two good goals aside - has been consistently poor. Most of the games it's been a job to notice he was actually on the pitch. For a player coming from last season's champions, he's been a massive disappointment.

| Summer on 12:04 - May 10 with 891 views | 1885_SFC | I think the answer will be getting some or all of our expensive flops (Lemina, Hoedt, Elyounoussi, etc) off the wage bill and out the door. Those signings have crippled us this season financially. | |

I think asking prices will have to come down because many clubs can’t afford them.

| Summer on 13:55 - May 10 with 807 views | TimSaint | It's the same every summer. We all say we need a good clear out and some decent signings, but it never happens and we end up getting 1 or 2 in and maybe a last minute final day panic buy. We really need to clear out so many, I can't even think of everyone !! Keepers FF - On big money, expect him to leave this summer AM - Not Prem quality, sell or keep as back up AG - Not done enough to warrant 1st team. Loan or sell to Stoke Defenders Bert - Expect him to go, as asking for too much and too long Valery - Not trusted at RB. Keep for RM or sell / release Stephens - Not worth keeping for the odd appearance on that money Hoedt - Sell at any opportunity. Burnt his bridges, so do one. Midfield Elyounoussi - Sell him to Celtic, doubt he wants to be at Saints anyway Lemina - RH doesn't want him. Sell for £8-10m if there are any takers Slattery - Will never play for our 1st team - release, sell, get rid Sims - Will never play for our 1st team - release, sell, get rid Hesketh - Will never play for our 1st team - release, sell, get rid Walcott - Not done enough for a contract with us, return to sender Minamino - Not done enough for us, still part of Klopp's plans, so return McQueen - injury plagued, contract up this summer - insurance pay off and release Additionally, the likes of Redmond and Djenepo have been mostly disappointing at best this season. Yes both have been injured, but they have been so inconsistent and fail to deliver, that I would seriously consider freshening things up and replacing one, if not both. Forwards Ings - don't want him to go, but I expect he probably will. He has had a good offer on the table, hasn't signed it, so if he really does want to go, say so, so we can at least get a decent fee for him. Obafemi - Needs to go on loan or be sold N'Lundulu - Needs to go on loan or be sold There are probably a few others that I have missed - including some of these youngsters who already think they have made it, but have proved so far to be not as good as they think they are. Ins Keeper - a first choice keeper with AM as back up Full Backs - Cover please, if you are not going to use Valery, Ramsey or Vokins 1 x Promising CB if Stephens leaves 2 x Wide Men / Wingers 1 x Striker | |
