Southampton Linked With Liverpool Striker on 10:38 - Jul 21 with 823 views | Kennington | If we can’t afford £60k a week for a Origi type player, it’s time for relegation as that’s surely just a typical premier league wage? I still don’t understand why £3m or so p/a is such a problem for saints but clubs of similar size manage it just fine. If we want to play in the premier league we should expect to pay premier league wages.

The question is whether he is worth £60 k a week, his track record suggests not

I agree, he looks like player who if he played a run of games would thrive but he never does And as someone else said 60k these days is average, god knows we have loads on more than that who we loan out willy nilly and if Danny is off..........
Southampton linked with lots of players we can't afford on 14:28 - Jul 21 with 642 views | dirk_doone | The club is still heavily in debt and I expect many others are too. Some clubs may have wealthy owners willing to bail them out; we don't. So, under those circumstances I'm not sure we can afford the basic Premier League running costs for fees, wages etc. We are scraping around the bargain basement but even that may be beyond us. I expect the club is hoping to cut the current wage bill by bringing players in on lower wages than their predecessors were on. We're almost certainly paying our new signing from Stade Brest a lot less than Bertrand was getting and if Ings is replaced, the new striker will be paid less too. We're not looking to upgrade the squad; but merely trying to hang on in the Premier League until Gao can find a buyer. [Post edited 21 Jul 2021 18:37]

Southampton Linked With Liverpool Striker on 14:28 - Jul 21 with 642 views | DorsetIan | Origi has 19 goals in 100 appearances for Liverpool. Danny Ings has 41 in 91 for Saints. Gabbiadini scored 10 in 51 for us. I'm guessing that Origi would be similarly frustrating.

Remember the rhetoric around the times when we were trying to find a new site to build a bigger stadium? Need a bigger ground with increased capacity in order to survive and maintain our PL status.....perhaps Goa needs to be looking now to build a 90,000 stadium to help pay the tealady wages eh......
