And being told I must turn up early, I must wear a mask, I must pre register, I can't go for a pre match drink as I have to be there early, I can't have a chat with the away fans before the game, I have to agree to all of this by pre registering otherwise I am refused entry. And then I have to queue up all the way down the road for an hour or so. I think I will give this a miss and watch on TV. [Post edited 23 Dec 2021 16:54]

Why on earth would you want to have a chat with the away fans before the game? Spurs fans are coonts.

Well you've just blown that by telling everyone that it's a good idea and as all SFC fans read this forum they'll do the same!

Chat, banter, a sing. Granted I don't particularly want to talk to Spurs fans or any of the plastic fans of the top clubs, but had some great chats with Watford fans earlier in the season. I shouldn't be told I can't. Saints have already stopped access through the north car park, not allowing any interaction with the away fans.

Only 5 access points at St Mary's on 17:37 - Dec 23 with 2412 views | Saintsforeverj | I just hope everyone will be socially distanced in the long queues? Otherwise, is it not unsafe and making covid transmission more likely? The Man U game with the scanner failure, it was bordering on very dangerous and could have been another Hillsborough. 32 000 fans, 3000 rowdy away fans queuing down the road all having their covid status checked? It didn't work against Leeds when most people turned up late. Some will again and there is 32000 fans now potentially queuing into the roads. Some will say their phone is broken, ran out of battery etc. It could turn nasty. This will be a disaster. And for what? A new variant that is much milder than the variant we had before. Trust me, there is plenty of opportunity for “interaction” with the oppo fans on Britannia Road after the game. Villa fans were particularly, er, interactive…..

Chill out fella. We all know it’s a load of bollox, but the club have to play the game and be seen to be saying all the right things. In reality it’ll never happen like that and a quick flash of your phone will suffice to get through the perimeter (much like at Chelsea and Palace). No way they’ll be checking everyone properly or enforcing masks in the concourse etc.

Why f@cking say it then of they aren't going to enforce it? Just the usual pretend, play the game, tick the box cr@p, that is putting loads of fans off. Great for the game ay????

Only 5 access points at St Mary's on 09:03 - Dec 24 with 2094 views | SaintNick | I think you are having what is becoming a typical overreaction lately to everything the club say or do. They have introduced access points to spread out the fans and enable them to check covid status etc before the turnstiles. Not everyone will be checked at the access point, but when people are there is room to let those who are not being checked room to pass though instead of the queue being held up. Why will there be fans all outside on the road ? on three sides there are actually no roads so the two main access points have plenty of room and the two access points for the Itchen stand are fairly small and have a big concourse in front of the stand to queue on. The fifth access point if for the away fans from Brittania road which is closed off to park their coaches. To say they will be standing shoulder to shoulder with no social distancing is a little misleading, it is no different form if they queue at the turnstiles. Tell me what else could the club have done other than e mail everyone with a set in stone time slot to enter the ground with no exceptions. I'm sorry but at least they have tried something, the club didn't inflict Covid on the world, all it is doing is trying to make a bad situation better, yet still some slag them off. If you cant give the club any leeway in a pandemic then when can you ?

Again firstly the club advice people to turn up early for every game, I remember all ticket games back in the 70's they all said please be in position by 2.15 on them, its only a guideline not a law. If you do turn up early then you will have time to do all the things you are complaining about , ie chat with the away fans, have a drink in the ground, not have to stand shoulder to shoulder in an un socially distanced fashion. Wearing a mask and pre registering is the law, not a Saints ruling, The access points are an extra issue, but they shouldnt hold things up to much, they should help the flow of the crowd, anyone who went to palace and witnessed the chaos in the home sections pre game where they have no room for access points etc will know that doesn't work. Something similar was in place when the Rolling Stones played St Mary's, there were no hour long queues and quick access. It will work if the fans are compliant, if people start complaining about having to show their Covid status and then spend minute finding it on their phone then it will be chaos, if everyone accepts that it is what it is and has their status ready to easily show then the crowds will flow through at a good rate. It is the price we have to pay for the situation the world is in, last year if i wanted to go to the supermarket I had to wear a mask, I had to queue for the best part of an hour in the car park, I couldn't stop and have a chat with friends in the aisles or for that matter shoppers who usually go to Tesco, i wanted to eat so I had to do it, I couldnt just sit at home and watch food on the TV.

Only 5 access points at St Mary's on 09:31 - Dec 24 with 2056 views | dirk_doone | The map is as clear as mud and I'm someone who is used to mapreading. The person who drew it up is probably the same one who planned the packaging for the pin badge. All they needed to do was put some arrows on it, pointing to the 5 access points and the routes leading to them. Also a key, explaining the difference between the red lines and the black lines, wouldn't go amiss. Most people are just going to look at it, shrug, and think I'll just go the same way I always do. "It will work if the fans are compliant, if people start complaining about having to show their Covid status and then spend minute finding it on their phone then it will be chaos." Exactly. Out of 32000 people, it's likely that some won't be compliant and / or don't show their COVID status for whatever reason. Instead of this happening at one of the numerous turnstyles around the ground, this person will hold up everyone going into that stand at that one particular access point. All the Northam fans have to queue up over the footbridge? And any one of those people showing their passport to prove they are double jabbed, could have COVID anyway, especially as omicron evades double jabbed people. That's not Saints fault, that is government policy, but we all have to change our plans to check if people have covid, but it doesn't check it at all. All those with covid passports being checked could have COVID and pass it on to us all anyway, despite being "checked". Complete waste of time. Is it not better to let everyone in as normal and people wave their phone at the turnstyles, so tht only one turnstyles becomes blocked? Your paragraph about supermarkets last year, well that was when deaths were much, much higher. Plus, that actually had an impact, reducing the number of people in the supermarket. This won't reduce the number of people in St Mary's! It's just a pain for the fans, for no impact on preventing transmission. Again, this isn't just Saints fault, but they could stand up and question the pointless exercises, rather than just going along with it. Or just do the pointless exercises at the turnstyles, rather than risk carnage. [Post edited 24 Dec 2021 16:55]

Covid has from the outset been a disease that has targeted those with underlying health issues in their latter years..its not in any shape or form a disease that hangs around football turnstiles waiting for a QR code or piece of paper saying you're good to go..how anyone thinks a bit of paper or reducing 36 points of ingress to 5 is of any benefit is ridiculous. If you are susceptible to dying due to a suppressed immune system then stay at home and negate your chances of contacting a virus that could harm or kill you...it is really as simple as that!!
