| Brighton V Palace Cancelled 19:04 - Sep 7 with 1799 views | SaintNick | Called off already for 17th September as there is a train strike and with little parking at the Amex and only one road in and out they can't hold a game there and get the crowd in without a train service | |

| Brighton V Palace Cancelled on 20:55 - Sep 7 by Southamptonfan | I think he means train drivers on double the salary of a nurse, who won't accept 5 per cent pay rise to their already way above average salaries, stopping nurses and home carers from getting to work to save lives. |
Along those lines. What is it, £60-80k for a driver, unbelievable perks for life etc Yes it's hard times but all of a sudden everyone believes they must have a massive pay rise or rlse

The root cause is that a weak, shambolic government has lost control of this country, its economy, infrastructure, criminal justice, health system etc etc. It's run like a party game of swapping funny hats, with a different set of ministers every month, none of whom trust each other as they all scrabble to get the best hats. Sounds like the train drivers union is doing a fantastic job and we should really have more unions like them then?
| Brighton V Palace Cancelled on 11:56 - Sep 8 with 1237 views | ElijahK | Sheesh if anyone should be going on strikes it’s more certain members of the NHS, or certain areas schools and such. Even refs should go on strike (especially the lower league ones) for what we’re getting not taking into account the massive increase in fuel prices (and that’s not leaving out all the shit and abuse many get). Still, seeing how many are need of jobs, it would be nice, if for once, the government actually held their ground and said no, and that if they really weren’t that happy they can bugger off and many who don’t have jobs and would love what they’ve got, can replace them | |

Thankfully it’s the same vice versa, as if the government just keep giving in to some of these more stupid strikes, then it’s only a matter of time before overpaid people like footballers themselves, start going on strike

Absolutely! That'll get the country back on its feet (I do accept that they should not take the guards off the trains though, they need someone to deal with all the pi55 head away football supporters on the milk trains .................

The Brighton Trust has said the main problem as well as the trains is that it is Freshers week, the Brighton Uni halls of residence are next to the Amex and they need their car parks as the new students start to arrive this weekend. Brighton rely on using the car parks at the halls and residence, the Brighton Trust say that something like 65% of people use the trains and buses, 20% use park and ride and 15% use the University car parking. When Sky TV moved the Brentford game to 8pm Boxing Day when there were no trains, Brentford bussed all their fans in and Albion created new park and rides from (closed) supermarket car parks elsewhere in the city at enormous cost. But they can't use those supermarket car parks on Saturday. I know Brighton had to fight to build this stadium, but you have to say it isn't fit for purpose if it cant handle big games when there is no public transport available

Before i got to the end of your piece I was thinking how ridiculous is it that a Preniership club have to rely on Supermarket car parks to raise a couple of bob as they can't service the 30k supporters that turn up! I drive past their ground both on the A27 as well as the side road a lot and always thought I can't be ar5ed to go there as it is such a pain But you are right, it's not really a fit for purpose Premiership ground. Stadium yes, but not in that location
