Penalties again does us. Those sub’s baffled me,why take Saka off for Sterling, why no Grealish till it was too late ? Better team in second half, but penalties our undoing again.

Sh1t happens I'm afraid. I'd guess it was nerves, as Henderson has just said, his goals got us there but shouldn't really rely on penalties

Nerves affected a few of our players. Bellingham's passes nearly all went to French players. His passing isn't usually that bad. In contrast, Mbappe's passes all went to his team mates and, unlike Kane, Giroud was confident, relaxed and smiling. [Post edited 10 Dec 2022 21:25]

| England on 21:51 - Dec 10 with 3597 views | SFC_Referee | Well you lads all know me, and how I sure do love to defend refs when I can, but I do think the ref had a few mess ups today! As I don’t think this ref was as poor as many have been making out, but at the same time how does VAR mess up on both the lane pen and foul on Saka incidents in one of the biggest games in the world? As he’s wasn’t France’s first goal ruled out by VAR for the foul on Saka? As originally I thought it was too far back and there’s been a too large gap between the incidents. But I heard that VAR did review this incident, so if that’s the case then I’d presume that it wasn’t too far back, if so how did VAR not give a foul? And secondly for the first penalty incident for us with the foul on Kane. See so far I’ve heard basically everyone agree it’s a foul, but many say it’s not a pen as it’s outside the box. At first I wasn’t too set as it did look like it was on the line (and of course on the line is defined as inside). But after seeing this picture I’ve attached ( https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/dam/football/2022/12/10/TELEMMGLPICT00031933 it’s quite clearly on the line/inside the box, and therefore how wasn’t a pen given. But at the same time we had our chances and got knocked out as we didn’t take them! But still for a quarter final of the World Cup, I don’t get how VAR messes up on both of them!? | |

Your analysis is mute Shit show in a country that gives no regard for those that died building stadia that should never of been built. England had a chance to make a stand against corruption and human suffering by not attending..Harry and Co didn't achieve fuk all in regards to shining a light on injustice or the suffering of gay bi or transexual people in Qatar..they just gave a country with backwards practices a platform..Infantino proclaiming it the best World Cup ever epitomises the shit show. But did you watch the game tonight then as well as all the other ones so far this World Cup? As if the answer to any of them is yes then your just as bad. As I agree it should be have been hosted there and that more should’ve been done, but unfortunately it wasn’t and unfortunately it still got hosted in Qatar. As the way it should change isn’t by teams having to pull out to make a point etc, but by those in charge having to be removed, punished and the ways in which they’re selected and the limits to their powers all being changed! As teams shouldn’t need to suffer/miss out due to the mistakes of others.

Don't know about 68 but I can say that I haven't watched a minute of a live match or highlights show. It should be easier to ignore it totally now England are out & it won't be plastered over every news bulletin. Not trying to take the moral high ground & others will make their own choices. I know you can point to dubious stuff going on in previous host countries but for me this was a step too far. Personally I didn't want anything to do with it.

Just to provide a bit of balance here, there have been no reported drunken outbreaks of violence, no turnstile failures or fans dangerously entering stadiums like at Wembley in London or in France, excellent organisation and despite all the media slating of Qatar (which ofcourse is justified regarding human rights and gay people), I know one person who went and they said all the things the media say is way off the mark (surprise surprise). They said the people were friendly, welcoming, kind, polite, everything was spotlessly clean and the tournament was extremely well organised. When alcohol was freely available in France 98, there was carnage. People were hurt from Russian gangs, rival fans clashed and the French police were terrible. People had tickets from the black market etc. Not defending Qatar at all on the indefensible, but don't believe everything the media says. The media influences us with their biased views just as much as the Russian people are influenced by their media. [Post edited 10 Dec 2022 23:53]

Not sure what game you were watching, Mbappe didn’t get a kick, England were by far the better team but as we know that’s means fook all, I’d rather we’d been outplayed than be unlucky.

And win a world cup final that everybody will want forget when it's finished, sounds as though JWP was needed for a couple of free kicks just outside the box.
| England on 16:13 - Dec 11 with 2871 views | GRIM | Too much emphasis being put on Kanes missed penalty. Yes, we might have played pretty well & had more possession than France. But the deciding factor was the quality finishing by the French team. They scored 2 excellent goals from open play, we had to rely on Penalties to keep us in the game. The game has changed over recent years, it's now very common for teams that monopolise possession get hit on the break & concede goals. I'm not at all surprised that England have been knocked out of the competition at the qtr final stage, that is normal for us, we're OK until we come up against quality opposition. There is always too much hype & expectation on England in these competitions. | | | |
