One is young and one isn't. It's a forced policy from the board and owners. Each manager is under instructions to play and develop the younger players so that they can be sold for a profit. Armstrong won't have a sell on value. It's not the manager, it's club policy. Same thing happened with Romeu, who is clearly a much better player than Diallo. It's all about developing young players over playing the older ones who won't make us any profit. This is why we have to get the owners out. It's a policy for them, not for the fans. Every manager is.umder the same instruction to develop the young players at all costs. Except they don't develop. [Post edited 29 Dec 2022 18:20]

Is that a fact or an opinion?

It is a fact. Any manager here is under instruction to develop the young players (for a profit). That's the job here. Saints appoint any manager who agrees with that policy. If you play the older players, the younger ones won't develop, hence playing Diallo over Romeu, Armstrong and anyone else.

The previous owners had the same ethos. The common link is Semmens. He specifically wanted new owners who would buy into this.

Very good point. When the club was up for sale from Gao, I remember Semmens saying "We have had plenty of interest, even from some wealthy individuals but we wouldn't like them". I wonder who we missed out on??? He means, he didn't like them as they probably would have brought in their own people and sacked Semmens. Semmens is f@cking ruining our club. As I have said many times, the club policy is about making money, it's no longer about winning football matches. I don't think I ever remember being so hacked off with what's going on at the club.

Exactly. That's why I rarely read player interviews etc as tgey are all I'm sure, vetted by the PR moguls first. Unless your name is Ronaldo and really want to get out
