The defensive line for the free kick was way too high it should have been on the edge of the box.
Anything then behind the line the keeper comes and gets.
You’re playing a dangerous game hoping that there’s an offside by pushing so far up.
A well timed run and free header results in a goal.
Schoolboy stuff.
It’s not the first time either.

None of our January signings started which is odd.
Walcott and Mara starting up front with Tall Paul and Sulemana sat on the bench.
Ruben, Ruben, Ruben please…

Perraud, Lavia and Janny B looked up for it, the rest were going through the motions.
On the beach already?

On the plus side at least Mara’s kit won’t need a wash.

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.

Starting a must win game with Walcott and Mara?

Clueless.

West Ham crowd extremely quiet and nervous at the start.

An opportunity missed to attack them with everything we've got from the off.

I think there's one hope left - tall Paul to hit his stride and find us 6+ goals between now and season end. I'm not holding my breath.

Although defensive mistakes don’t help, it’s our lack of threat in attack that’s the real issue imo

I've just noticed that the 6 teams immediately above us have all got a game in hand.

Oh, that's brightened my morning no end!

City at home on Saturday is a must win!!

I admire your relentless positivity about this team Nick, but the facts show that we are actually a terrible team.
We were the worst in the country in 2022, and none of our new signings get in the side. We have been bottom most of the season, and we fail to win games 95% of the time. I'm not sure what other evidence you need.
There are so many players that haven't contributed a thing it's almost easier to list the players that have.
Ward Prowse and Lavia in the main have been good, Alcaraz has made an impact, KWP always looks decent and amazingly Bednarek has been ok since his return.

Elsewhere there are plenty of players that frankly have done f all. Che would be ok if he could finish the simplest chances, Adam and Stuart Armstrong have done virtually nothing, Elynoussi has a gone an entire year without a goal or an assist, Diallo is mostly anonymous, I could go on. The few bright spots we have like Alcaraz and Sulemana don't even get picked and Onuachu - well who knows. Apparently Adam Armstrong is better and he literally NEVER scores.
I've come to terms with going down. There will be a lot of change but it looks to me like that is what we need.

The owners need to take a long hard look at themselves. I appreciate we don't have the money to compete but to rely so much on untried youth was just arrogance. The PL is an unforgiving place and we desperately needed some actual experience. We kept Ralph too long, Jones was just incomprehensible other than our owners thinking they were smarter than everyone else, and Selles has absolutely zero experience. Typically however a lot of our fans were seduced by a shiny suit and someone who says the right things.
I'm still amazed that when we were in huge trouble, we gave the job to a man that has absolutely no managerial experience.
But hey-ho, the championship isn't the end of the world and you never know, we might actually win a few games. I'm sure Burnley have enjoyd this season far more than last.

Watching Walcott is like watching Shane Long, runs about all over the place, but hasn't got a scooby doo what to do with the ball when he get's it. As for scoring goals what's wrong with filling the box with 5'4" strikers and putting in high crosses, you don't think that the 6'7" striker sat on the bench is going to reach them do you, he might hit the bar again and that's no good is it. (Sarcasm) before you jump on me.

shane long for all his faults would have walked into this team had he been 3 years younger, physical presence never gave defenders the free ride they get now, think if he was still here he would be starting which tells you everything.Walcott is done at this level and mara should be in the b side learning so how the the hell they start in front of the 2 january signings is beyond me even jones would have started them so that tells you weve got another waster in charge

Southampton at West Ham United The Verdict on 13:57 - Apr 3 with 1441 viewssaint901

The Walcott/Mara combo makes no sense on any level.

Walcott has not got the speed he once had and these days looks like a winger who wants to be a CF but has no real idea about how to do either.

Mara is static. I'd love to be a defender against him. It'll be like marking a gatepost, and like a gatepost one who can't get off the ground. He does not have the guile or the experience to find a way to make his skills work at this level.

West Ham have shipped goals this season from crosses into the box, especially angled crosses. We did not know that or failed to use that information. And even if we had realised that, a small striker and an immobile one is not going to exploit it.

So the wrong selection from the outset.

Worse though was a total lack of any belief. The midfield, when they did get the ball, looked up for an option. Mara was stood still and marked. Walcott was often alongside the midfield. Lavia sits a little too deep and JWP/SA were doing their best but had to be mindful of their defensive duties.

Clueless management.

City will be interesting. We have tended to play better against the better teams but I fear that City are on a roll and with Haaland back, we could be in trouble.

West Ham are rubbish, which puts in perspective how bad Saints are. We've lost to some really poor teams this season: teams whose fans have started to turn against them and their managers but we contrive to save them.

West Ham 1 Newcastle 4 tonight.

Shows how utter sh1t we are. I know the Mags are flying - but you can't help wonder what might have been had we had a decent striker against West Ham's sh1te defence.

Selles defensive negative Bollox. His 2 wins one was a fluke v Leicester who should have won by 3 or 4 and Chelsea who can’t score. You just know our thick as sh!t board will give him the job permanently

I hope not Cocklebreath. He doesn't deserve it. He was the right choice, probably the only realistic choice after the Nathan Jones debacle and the mess of a season it had become but don't forget Selles was there for Hassenhuttl this season and for Jones and therefore has some culpability to how we have performed on the pitch.

The board should know now and be talking to his successor to be ready to be put in place the day after the season closes so that that person has the whole summer to prepare the squad for the season ahead because managed right there is no reason why we could not do a Burnley but equally we could crash and burn if we get it wrong.

Personally I would like to see Potter take over even if he costs a bit once the season closes but I have little faith in these owners any more than the previous ones that they will make a good decision.

You need to score goals to get out of the championship so find a manager who likes to attack, I’m so fed up with the negative football.

A lot of the negative football though, is because if we are too open we concede a hatful because the defence is sh!t. We don't have a good enough team. That's what it comes down to.

We won't get Potter in the Championship. He'll end up at Leicester or Palace who will both survive the drop.

We might get Harry Potter if we're lucky. Not even he could work his magic into our lazy, sh1te, bollock ache of a squad mind...
