This is his level, he can’t get us further than this, draws that should be wins, playing Manning.
Smart clinical decisions, creative attacking football is not his bag

Absolutely agree that RM is a few percentage short of where we need him to be if we are to be in the top 2 in April/May.
That said, this team would be cannon fodder in the PL at the moment and we could expect a few drubbings.
He needs to fix the team and make it ready for the PL and then needs to fix himself to be ruthless.
How can we have three times the possession of Coventry but few shots and scrape a draw? That points to a problem that only RM can solve. And I agree that he doesn't seem to want to. | | | |

bloody football hipsters, feel like they're somehow "better" than everyone else for trusting the process and clapping him because we've had more possession, same muppets complained about Puel being boring when he was more successful.
Martin is just a bang average manager, underperforming with the squad we've got, but not doing badly enough he'll get sacked.

Although I reckon we're heading for the playoffs, it's worth noting that the 11/12 Championship season where we came up in 2nd.
After 21 matches we were top on 43 pts
Reading were 11th, 13 pts behind us.
Guess who won the league that year.

PatfromPoole, you make a very good point, if Russell Martin got us promoted he would almost certainly get a golden handshake (the sack) and he knows that, doing ok at the top end is good way to stay employed next year.

If RM got us promoted they would give him at least 10 games before the sack, but getting a team promoted into the PL would always look good on his CV so why wouldn't he go for it? | | | |
