Tim Flowers is a good example of why not to buy a young keeper. Several seasons of not being very good, then 1 season of being outstanding and hes gone.
Peter Shilton all the way. He was a great shot stopper and controlled his defence. I was lucky enough to see most of his home games for us. I used to get in the ground when the turnstiles opened at around 1ish. Being so early I always got a place right down the front, always to the left of the goal. This was at the Milton Rd end and I remember Shilton screaming âawayâ or âoutâ. When he played for us and Mark Wright, they shut the opposition out. What a combination that was .

So which was his one good season ?
Was it 2014/15 when he played 30 games and we finished 8th
Was it 2015/16 when he played 18 games and we finished 6th
Was it 2016/17 when he played all 38 League games as we finished 8th and also the League cup final
You two are depressing to read. The title says favourite âeverâgoalie. I agree that Forster shouldnât be on that list. Then you might as well add Gennoe or the Kat⌠You canât go on about how good a keeper is from results. Itâs how good they are at their job, Ramsdale proved last season you can be a good keeper in a shit team

For me, the word " favourite " in this question just means "which one was likely to be the most memorable to watch when entering the ground".
So my vote goes to Ron Reynolds from the early 60's.
Reliable enough on the basics...was our PFA rep and generally batshit crazy.
Played a part in a game I saw as a boy vs Leeds in the league cup. Today it would have been talked about as the game of the century for Saints.
Reynolds went off injured very early after planting his head on the Leeds CF's boot. Cliff Huxford went in goal (no subs) and let in 4 goals.
Step forward Derek Reeves who scored all 5 in a 5-4 win.
Reynolds was the first keeper to wear contact lenses and could regularly be found on all fours on the edge of his 6 yard box looking for one of them. Under lights they rendered him effectively blind with the inevitable hilarious outcomes.
Yep.. fits the " favourite " tag for me.
