| FA Cup Final On Saturday on 11:58 - May 13 with 1156 views | DorsetIan | Feels like a long time since FA Cup final day was a big deal. Certainly into the 80s/early 90s, it was always a day to settle down in front of Grandstand from at least lunchtime. | |

| FA Cup Final On Saturday on 12:49 - May 13 with 1124 views | DorsetIan | Arguably the Championship Play-Off final is now the most interesting/exciting domestic Wembley occasion, and maybe partly because that it is usually now the final game of the season. | |

I think we played Sunderland away on the Sunday, a day after the Cup Final when Wigan won in it 2013. If it is the game I'm thinking of, we drew 1-1 and Punch got our equaliser

And the reason why it is such an important game? Yes, dosh and the winners get to the promised land of multi million pound prize money which unfortunately is seen as a bigger prize. Back in the day when the cup was the biggest prize to win in world football for players and English clubs I could probably even now name all the winners, losers and scores from the about '63 up to almost the mid 90's when interest started to diminish (apart from '03 of course where I also know the winners (bstrds) and losers and the score!) Strange how that coincides with the start of the Prem

I’ve been to the last five championship play offs, the atmosphere is incredible, completely different from a cup final. There’s an air of absolute desperation/pressure about it. It’s all or nothing. I think the cup final has become sanitised with the same teams playing every year. I’d like to see Leicester win it tomorrow, even given creepy Brenno’s red links. It definitely needs to be after the league has finished though. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
| FA Cup Final On Saturday on 19:20 - May 15 with 692 views | dirk_doone | It was good to see the fans back in. Schmeichel proved again that he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He made 2 world class saves there that were among the best ever seen in a cup final. The focus on Leicester's owners at the end was well-deserved. Their investment and ambition has brought Leicester the greatest era in their history and their first Premier League and FA Cup trophies. They paid £35 million for their goal scorer, Tielemans. It was great to see how much it meant to the Leicester fans at the end, in fact all the way through. For Chelsea fans it was probably just another game. I’m not a fan of VAR but that was quite entertaining! | | | |

The second save was unbelievable. Must be in top 5 Cup Final saves. 99/100 that’s a goal.

Those owners are something else, and no other club outside the top 6 has been that lucky. The thing is, if we had f*cking turned up and played football in the SF, we could’ve easily knocked them out.

That was the problem, Leicester didn’t let us play. Their coach should take a lot of credit for the Cup triumph. He got his tactics spot on all the way through.

Brendan Rogers wasn’t responsible for our players showing a complete lack of intensity that day

It’s hard to play if the opposition make it hard for you to play, which is what we were doing at the height of our good run. We have spoken about teams working out how to play against us and that was a perfect example. Leicester didnt play expansive football did they? The filled the midfield and made it difficult for us. I don’t disagree that we were cagey but that is hardly surprising given they way they ripped us a new one a year earlier. I don’t think we can be too despondent having been beaten by the third best team in the EPL and the eventual winners.
