| IOW Festival 21:46 - Sep 15 with 1510 views | PatfromPoole | Any other Uglies going this weekend? On the 9.45am ferry on Thursday morning from leafy Lymington. Part of me wonders if they may move it permanently from June to September if it goes well. | |

I had bought a ticket for IDLES at 1865, which I have had to pass on. Gutted in truth.

You'll have a grand time i reckon and i wouldn't mind seeing Tom Jones as he is still on the bucket list of sorts. Shed Seven, James and the Scream will be good value as always. Enjoy, and hope the weather fairs well. Fingers crossed tomorrow is raucous at the 1865..... [Post edited 15 Sep 2021 22:46]

Cheers. Shed Seven are on at the same time as Liam Gallagher, which is a pain. As with James and The Snuts. Tom Jones should be great, not seen him before.

"Shed Seven are on at the same time as Liam Gallagher, which is a pain." Hardly a dilemma

Idles last night were brilliant, the place was rocking and they exceeded my expectations only on for just over an hour, but when you've only paid £16 for the latest CD and ticket for gig, you can't complain and 1865 a great venue

Ditto your thoughts. Thought they would be good again but absolutely, surpassed my expectations. The 1865 is a decent venue and far better for 'feel' and 'ambience' over the Engine Rooms of similar capacity.

I used to live in the flats opposite (Orchard Place, flat fans) and there was uproar from the residents committee when the 1865 first started putting on gigs there. I’m glad we refused to join in with the protests, it’s getting some cracking gigs now right in the middle of town.

To some extent i can appreciate when properties were there before a new venue comes along that there could be problems, what really gets my goat though is when a venue or pub have been sited somewhere for years and some twÄt moves in and then kicks off about noise. Some twerp near me moved in from London and then a year or so later went round to the nearby church and kicked off when the old locals were doing bell ringing practice. Whilst not my cup of tea the place has been there hundreds of years and is a regular ritual to hear the ringing. [Post edited 17 Sep 2021 8:36]
