A young player in goal against Arsenal next week who isn't any good. Oh dear. Got tickets too. I will prepare for a thrashing! [Post edited 4 Dec 2021 20:07]

Forster and McCarthy both injured on 20:58 - Dec 4 with 1873 views | Bicester_North | I’m sure we’ll have a wacky team out for Arsenal, anything less than a 4-0 defeat will be a bonus. Not normally in the must win camp but Palace away is a big one due to the failure of winning either of the last 2 at home.

The front line will be grateful to him tonight for the saves he made and their missed chances
Forster and McCarthy both injured on 22:07 - Dec 4 with 1751 views | pjt50 | It's a bit worrying that Harry Lewis hasn't had any first team football since his loan spell in 2017/18. He's reportedly on over £20K a week so at least he'll have a chance to earn it.

20k a week for 3rd choice keeper, that is mind blowing.

We gave him a one year extension at the start of this year. All things considered it's probably just as well we did! Anyway, good luck to him. This is his chance to shine & maybe put himself in the shop window.

Southampton will consider signing a goalkeeper on an emergency loan if Alex McCarthy faces a spell out of the team. The Athletic understands that consideration is already being given to signing a goalkeeper on an emergency loan to help fill the void vacated by both McCarthy and Forster.

It sounds like it's going to be 40-year-old Willy Caballero, a free agent who has been training with AFC Wimbledon. Whoever it is, he can't be any worse than McCarthy. [Post edited 5 Dec 2021 13:20]

This sums us up Every single festive period we struggle with injuries and suspensions and now along with Ralph’s continuing failure to address the keeper issue we are looking like it’s gonna be worse this Xmas!

No he was signed as backup to Niemi but then dropped to 3rd choice when Bart arrived. 2nd choice keepers are PL backups. 3rd choice keepers are for playing in the U23 games.

We have Rom and Sali missing for 1 game. It is hardly a crisis. These players are always going to get booked 5 times before Xmas, so it is actually good that they are missing a probable defeat away to Arsenal, regardless of whether they play or not, so that they are back for our more important and more winnable games away to Palace and home to Brentford. Stephens has actually come back from injury in time for the festive period and hopefully Stu Armstrong will return shortly as well. Even Bednarek is not looking like he will be out for long. We are able to make an emergency signing if needed, because of keeper injury crisis - so maybe we will have to sign someone short term, this week. Perhaps it will also prompt us to move quickly in January to make a move for a new Number 1 keeper.
