What do people see in Kalvin Phillips, apart from his silly hair style? I don't think I've ever seen a player who passes sideways and backwards more than he does and that's probably because on the rare occasion he's tried to pass the ball forwards, he's gifted it to an opposition player.

Does it not remind you of watching Saints Dirk? There are distinct similarities. Lack of goal threat and lack of creativity and lack of fight. I suppose one difference is they have not scored first and then gone on to lose.

Yes, and now the obligatory red card for one of our players. At least there's not enough time for Hungary to score 9.

It's stupid anyway having this tournament or whatever it is, just a few months before the work cup finals. The players don't care and who can blame them. All eyes on the world cup. Just meaningless games. The world cup is where it matters.

Agree, Phillips not good enough, Saka nowhere in any universe good enough, Mount and Bowen both hopeless.

So we've learnt tonight at least 4 players not good enough to make WC squad.

Awful wasn’t it? The punditry was as bad as the match.

Waking up to calls on ‘the socials’ for Southgate to be sacked.
Loses 2 games in 4 in a friendly competition whilst rotating the squad and he must go.

Hassenhüttl picks up 5 points in 13 games and there’s still people saying he should stay.
It’s a funny old game.

Well unlike Saints, England should be able to compete with the best.

England will never win anything with Southgate, he has no charisma. i wouldn't want him at Saints even.

I wholly disapprove of what you say and will defend to the death your right to say it.

Finished top of the qualifying group with 10-0 & 5-0 wins.
Job done, qualified for The World Cup.

Lose 2 games in a two bit tournament with a draw away to Germany in between and sack the manager 2 games before The World Cup starts.
Sounds like a plan. 😬

I’d base a manager’s ability on results not charisma.

I have used the 3-goal rule many a time before with Saints in deciding when to leave a game.

Never before with England…….

Exactly Wizz he got us to a first major final since 1966 Ffs , these knee jerk reactions are annoying. Who cares about this stupid competition which comes at the end of a very long hard season and before the World Cup . Players will not want to get injured.

They seem to forget the credible Germany draw last week that if the game had of gone on 5 minutes longer we’d of won.

I am looking forward to The World Cup as I do with every major international tournament.
The nation comes together, apart from Liverpool, and cheers on the team.
Pubs are packed, there’s a feel good factor about the place.

Remember last summer.
The atmosphere in Wembley was the best I’ve seen/heard from following Southampton and England across Europe since 1980 a superb day in London.
Let’s get behind them.

You never know even Hassenhüttl may be marching us up the table by the time we kick off v Iran in November.

WE MARCH ON

Wiz, you’re deluded. Southgate was a dull player, is a dull man, appointed without suitable experience whose team strategy is all about defence with precious little vision or insights. Previous team success was enabled by soft opponents in the groups but unable to survive when seriously tested. Remember the awful penalties debacle.
Now that Kane has slowed up and lost his mojo Southgate has been found out and should go.

You’d sack a manager 2 games before a World Cup?
Who’s the deluded one?

He has passed the first test and got us qualified for The World Cup.
The second test is the tournament itself.
He will be judged on that.

Semi final in WC 2018
Final in Euro 2020

I would call that progress.
